This year I decided to get back into this game, and oh boy, was it the right year to choose that. This game has had a rocky history as of late, but 2024 is the 10th anniversary of Elite Dangerous and the 40th anniversary of the franchise, and you really feel this is Elite's year. New ships, new systems, the conclusion of a 7 year long war, this game still rocks in terms of visuals, gameplay, narrative and is a blast with friends. This game really does make it feel like you're flying a spaceship, and I would 100% recommend it. o7 commanders to another 10 years of Elite Dangerous

Sony have rescinded their awful business decision of tying this game to PSN accounts, and so it is no longer locked out for over 100 regions.

I can now recommend this game! The gameplay loop is fun, the ongoing war is interesting, and the visuals are stunning.

There are some problems with it. This game isn't well optimised, with the FPS limiter outright overheating my CPU (i had to manually set the max FPS in nvidia's control panel). The battlepasses, although still battlepasses, don't make you feel like you need to spend money on microtransactions. There are still quite a few glitches as well that it feels like you need to circumvent every time you play.

But all these issues feel negligible for a game this fun. Getting in a mechsuit and singlehandedly taking down 3 bile titans is pure dopamine to the game. Love fighting against all the odds in a literal hell war? play helldivers 2

an insane puzzlebox that will leave your head hurting from start to end. waiting to forget it so i can play again

I love killing enemies in increasingly ridiculous situations and then dying to a stray wisp

I love camping in space

Oh, this game is wonderful! A joy to play all the way through. It's filled with quirky dialogue, phenomenal visuals and a soundtrack that has become a favourite of mine. Entirely worth it!
