This game was awesome. There are multiple outcomes depending on how you respond in the various scenarios. This game was way more gripping than I was expecting. It sucked me in as soon as I started playing and I couldn't stop. It's creepy more than scary in a realistic way -- which was nice and fitting for the game. There are also a *lot* of interesting things going on in the game, from backstory to building relationships with the other characters. I really had a lot of fun finding out more about what was happening; the story really draws you in. Plus the graphics and atmosphere were cool, the various outcomes are surprisingly interesting, and the voice acting was A+.

tldr; GET IT.

Great game. Beautiful graphics, very engaging story and interesting plot. Fun battle system. Even involves some weighty decision-making. I love how Supergiant games makes philosophical plot twists and endings. (You should play Transistor, too.)

I enjoyed the narration. It was a nice, unique part of the plot. And the narrator has an awesome voice.

One of my favorite games. Definitely recommended, please play!

Pros:
- great overall purpose, educational in an interesting, non-intrusive way
- a nice story that's fairly engaging for the game's short length
- really beautiful environment and art style
- really unique and lovely game :)

Cons:
- controls are hard, especially for single-player on PC; play with a controller on co-op if possible

Very beautiful game. I love the thought and purpose behind this game - it teaches so much about Inupiat culture (in a very interesting and non-intrusive way, I might add). There's a lot of good wisdom there. The story is interesting, the characters are charming and sweet. I feel like it has just the right amount of player involvement for the length and plot of the story. (i.e., a good balance of emotional investment for like... 4 hours of gameplay).

I really recommend watching the videos that give more information about the Inupiat people; they're all really short and made the game a lot more interesting. You can tell the developers really put their hearts into the purpose of this project.

This game is sometimes a little exciting, but overall it's not a heart-pounding ride. If you need extremely action-filled games to fill your adrenaline addiction, this probably isn't for you - it's basically a long, pretty sidescroller maze where you have to time your jumps and movements just right to avoid death.

And that's my only complaint about this game: There were some places where I died repeatedly just because I couldn't switch deftly enough, or move quickly enough, or make the jump or whatever. And there's no health bar. You die instantly! So I'd have to do them over and over again. That happened in a few different places, to the point where it was laughable... but I managed to get through.

Like everyone else says, play with a controller on co-op if possible. Using a keyboard on single-player was... trying, at times.

But worth it. :)

Recommended for:
- people who love point-and-click adventures
- younger gamers (it's "family friendly," as they say)
- people who are willing to suffer a little to see some pretty, whimsical design
- people who don't have too much pride to use a walkthrough at times

Not recommended for:
- people who get frustrated or bored with long, tedious point-and-click puzzles
- people who want to feel emotionally attached to the characters

Oh man, there are so many good things about this game, and I really want to recommend it. :( The art is colorful, the settings are interesting, and the story is really cool. The character design is splendid. Actually the overall design of everything is splendid. The female protagonist is pretty awesome, and I think the story has some good messages. Some of the dialogue is really witty too, and all in all the game seems really well thought out. I like the story, too -- lots of good plot twists, interesting, unique.

But... maybe it was too well thought out. It started out fun enough, though at times I had to wonder to myself "I feel like this game is meant for an age range of about 8 to 13???" (But it is marketed as "family friendly," so I shouldn't complain now.) By the second act, everything starts to feel extremely tedious. It took me forever just to get through the puzzles. It felt like I'd have to walk through a million rooms and do things *just right* just to get things to work. Whereas I didn't have to use any walkthroughs in the first half of the game, I kept getting so frustated at how slow things were in the second half that I resorted to them multiple times near the end. By the end of the game, I just wanted to be done.

In addition, despite having a really cool story to begin with... the tedium somehow ruined it for me. I felt completey unattached to the characters. I liked the female protagonist well enough, she seemed really strong and daring and at least that gave her some kind of characterization. The other protagonist, well... if he'd fallen into a pit and died at some point I really couldn't have cared less. Which is sad, because his backstory is interesting enough and I feel like there could have been more... introspection there? Even a little?

In all fairness, point-and-click adventures aren't really my thing, I guess. I hadn't played one in a long time and I wanted to try this game because of all the good reviews. But... I WAS SO BORED. I want to give other point-and-click games the benefit of the doubt, because I'm certain I've played some that aren't quite so tedious. If you're into this type of game, maybe you'll like Broken Age anyway -- after all, it does have a lot of cool elements in it. I just feel like they missed some things in the execution.

Saving grace: It has tree jokes. And makes fun of hipsters, whom we all love to hate. Feels like there's some of that classic Monkey Island humor in there, too.

So... time to make like a leaf and... no, never mind.

Highly highly recommended!!!!

I seriously love this game. BEAUTIFUL art, amazing music, overall fun gameplay. The battle system is unique and really fun. There are tons of attack combinations to play around with too, each with unique graphics. The possibilities are almost endless. After you play the game (not before!) I recommend googling attack combinations to see what others have used. There are so many!

Did I mention that this game is REALLY beautiful? And the music is seriously just great - I recommend buying the soundtrack (it's on Steam too) after you finish the game. I've been listening to it for like a week straight since I finished playing.

The story is also interesting, the setting is extremely compelling and unique, and I couldn't help absolutely loving the protagonists. I kind of got really attached to them by the end of the game.

The setting is a very strange and thoughtfully-constructed world. I loved learning more about it while playing the game. I also found that the setting and plot left me with some deep existential questions by the end of the game, and I like games that make me think. (I dunno, maybe you can enjoy the game without the existential crisis though.)

I also like games that I can finish within 12 hours, because I get tired of long games and usually give up on them. If you like short games (and even if you don't, really) this is a good one.

Also, the voice acting for the main narrator is... awesome. You'll see what I mean.

(there may be vague spoilers below about gameplay below)

The few complaints I have about the game:

- The story is a little TOO mysterious. Like, I really wanted it to be explained more clearly and even at the end of the game I still felt like I didn't 100% understand what happened? I actually liked how the game starts (you're put right into the middle of the action, nice little in medias res there) but I wished that there were a more detailed explanation after that. Granted, the mysterious side of it keeps a nice tension, but... it really kind of annoyed me after awhile. The first ten minutes of WHAT'S HAPPENING?!? was cool. After that, I was more like "ok seriously, tell me what's happening."

- The Functions menu was kind of clunky. I understand that there's a lot of information to fit in, so that makes it difficult. But I feel like they could have made the design way more intuitive. Maybe some kind of drag/drop system, where the functions could switch places easily? I don't know. I'm not a game designer, but was frustrating to me that to switch around a function or two I'd have to un-install like six of them sometimes.

- I really wanted a way to save my favorite Function combos. By the end of the game I found myself writing them down on a slip of paper as I played, because there was no way to save them in the game.

If you've read this far into my review and you feel worried about this game now somehow, please don't. The cons for this game seriously end up being minor, in my opinion, and they don't hugely affect the game. So let me just reiterate myself:

GET THIS GAME IT IS AMAZING AND YOU WILL NOT REGRET IIIIIIIIT!!!!

PLAY THIS GAME YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT THIS GAME IS AMAZING.

<may contain vague spoilers>

I love this game.
Original, thought-provoking, and touchingly earnest.
I was so happy to find that one of the main characters is someone with a disability. Thoughout the game, although this is a part of her character, it becomes more and more clear that it's not the sole point of her character - she is something much bigger, much more wonderful than just that one aspect.
And seeing that expressed so clearly in a game made me really, really happy.

EVERYTHING ELSE ABOUT THIS GAME IS JUST AWESOME AND I CAN'T RECOMMEND IT ENOUGH.

To the makers of To The Moon: Kudos. You all did an amazing job.

p.s. THIS GAME HAS AWESOME MUSIC. I can't wait to buy the soundtrack. :)
