story starts off strong but quickly devolves into something awful. i forced myself to get all the endings to find any redeeming qualities, but the only one i could find was ryoko. and that sucks, because i had high expectations for this game! i was really excited to play it, but quickly found out that it loves shock value. which is tolerable normally, but the shock value in this game includes sensitive topics such as r*pe and p*dophilia.
i don't care if a game decides to explore or include those topics as long as it a) feels like it serves some purpose other than "wow! look at this horrible thing happening! isn't it messed up?" and b) is handled tactfully. song of saya, in my opinion, fails to fulfill both of those requirements.
i'm left disappointed and frustrated at this game more than anything. i wanted to like it, i really did. the premise was interesting, the soundtrack was very good, and i was intrigued by what seemed like this doomed and forbidden relationship born out of tragic circumstances. unfortunately, fuminori and saya commit such vulgar and despicable acts that i can't bring myself to care at all what happens to them. like, am i supposed to like them or not? i found myself cheering at their demise without the smallest bit of sadness.
to be completely honest, i would change very little about this game, as it's not necessarily a bad story. i just think its plot and themes are executed horrendously as the game progresses.
