Effects: The effects of Acute Radiation are split up between six thresholds.The most common thresholds are between 0 and 450. After that, you kind of have to be trying to irradiate yourself to get any higher.

Causes: Some reagents can irradiate you, such as radium and uranium. You may encounter radiation damage frequently from Engineering, as the SM (supermatter) engine is radioactive, so you may hear them requesting anti-radiation chems. Miners also request anti-rad chems in case they happen to run into radioactive chunks of rock or a radioactive artifact. Science can also run into these. If the SM blows up, it’ll cause widespread radiation damage and hallucinations. (See ‘In Depth Chemistry’ for ways to combat hallucinations)

Chronic radiation is the total amount of radiation their body has had, both past and present. Each Rtick, a point (or points) of Acute Radiation will become a point (or points) of Chronic Radiation if it isn’t removed through medical treatment first. Once Acute Radiation is cleared, the Chronic Radiation will start to slowly go down. You cannot treat Chronic Radiation, so it’s important to prevent it in the first place.
