I bought this game and its sequel on sale while a friend was over at my house. I wasn't expecting much from it, so it came a surprise when the game was actually pretty good.
Let's put the ridiculous storyline aside, as it isn't even worth mentioning (it is pretty much the same for all the overhead monster shoot-em-ups). The time me and my friend spent however shooting up the variety of creatures we encountered as we moved on through the levels was I think well spent; the game is quite simple and the gameplay feels nostalgic with other games of the same genre.
The game accepts multiple players in local, one-screen co-op (up to 4 I think?), which gives for a fun experience when a few friends are over.
The only con except the quirky storyline was the controller support; most of it works fine like assigning buttons, however the lack of a setting for sensitivity of the aiming axis made the game considerably harder for the controller player.
Nevertheless, quite a cool game for its price.

You can do ANYTHING with this; possibilities are endless.
Stick a chair on a barrel, some wheels, a jet engine, and you've got your first beloved race car.
Make a house out of desks, dead bodies and toilets, then put firework trail effects onto the pieces, put some dynamite inside and watch the bodies fly in the sky giving you an enjoyable show.
Take a dumpster, some fences, gravity balls, lights, make it into a helicopter.
Or... just take some ragdolls from your favourite games (i.e. TF2) and make retarded videos out of it.
This can be enjoyed for hours and days, and when you come back to it later you'll still laugh at that first barrel race car that flies into the sky the moment you press the throttle button.

"Old but solid gold" definitely applies to this game.
Solid RPG, with great skill system and inventory management as well as a great variety of monsters and large (although linear) areas.

But the biggest pro of this game: CO-OP MULTIPLAYER.

This game allows 2-6 players co-op online multiplayer, which works absolutely amazing and sets for a lot more fun as you compete with your friends for loot and struggle through the game together as a variety of classes. The repetitive experience of the game (clear the area, go to the next) goes to the new level if you just have a bunch of mates to tag along with you through this game.

10/10 would recommend again.

If you want to try this game, I recommend getting at least 3 friends with you. This game is HARDCORE.

Good gameplay, it gives off the survival feeling of the game very well. Setting of the game is very strong (lots of darkness, great sfx and well thought-out maps). Limited supplies keep you on your toes through your struggle in mission- and survival-based maps. If you play with friends you can get stuck to this for hours.

I think the only improvements need to be made in the zombie hit and infection system (some weird interactions with zombies) but generally a great game (mod?), definitely worth a try for anyone (especially since it is free).

All previous installments of Anno were set in the past; hence when I heard of Anno 2070, I was intrigued, thinking that this cannot possibly work.
But after playing it, I was surprised on how well the game was actually executed.
The campaign brought in an interesting storyline (interesting enough to keep going anyway in an economy-based strategy game), with thought-out missions and essentially teaches everything you need to know about the game to you in a very clear manner, which is very different to the previous installments of Anno - understanding of those games was much more difficult. The multum of single missions and special scenarios (changed at intervals) that are available to you give for an extended amount of gameplay even if you are not a fan of single player, and the widely customizable endless mode allows you to face off against AI and other human players (or even invite players to co-op) which in itself adds on to the game.

The biggest problem with this game in my opinion is the lack of a 'real' AI. What I mean by that is, the AI in skirmishes does not seem to have the same requirements for things as you (i.e. start with different tech trees unlocked), and does not seem to actually develop much other than expanding to new islands. This issue is avoidable if you actually play vs real opponents, but the game could be more interesting if such AI existed.
Another problem worth mentioning, which exists with ALL Ubisoft software - Uplay. It is pretty much poorly executed Steam for Ubisoft games, which will most likely become a nuisance to you if you decide to buy multiple Ubisoft games. When the servers are down (which they are unreasonably often), you might not be able to access the game, EVEN IN SINGLE PLAYER. However, even so, I think this can be overlooked if you enjoy the game.

Overall, as a fan of the Anno series as well as a general fan of strategy games, I think that this game was worth buying along with its expansions - I've played it for hours and will play it for hours to come.

From such a cheap game I expected nothing but a few minutes of gameplay and something that quickly would get boring.

I was mistaken.

This game is EXTREMELY addictive. Despite its simplistic nature (moving a small triangle left and right to try avoid walls moving towards you), the progressively harder levels will keep you at bay for numerous hours as you try to learn the patterns that show up in levels in randomized order. At times it can get slightly frustrating (especially when you die 1 second from reaching Hexagon), but definitely worth its tiny price.
