I'm not sure why this is getting "mixed" review on overall on Steam when there are crappier "meme" games that break through the positive score.

It's well optimized and runs surprisingly well on a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ computer for how it looks. I haven't played the two prior Lost Planet games but for what it is, this game feels like a lot of heart and effort was put into it. The voice acting is pretty great, the gameplay, while not anything new, is sufficient enough to carry the story. You're just some space contractor dude, doing manual labor so you can provide for your family back home.

Some of the complaints I saw were about the keyboard and mouse controls and I have to agree. I switched to a controller and noticed that the experience improved significantly. I also agree that Jim's rig can feel really slow but I think that adds some emphasis on how big the thing is.

Overall I'd say if you like walking around on a heavy mech as well as some cover-based shooter aspect and collect-a-thon, set in an icy planet filled with Akrids, give it a shot. It often goes on sale for cheap too. I don't think the shortcomings outweigh the overall appeal of the game. It plays a lot better with a controller though.
