This is an incredibly unique VN, and i can't really understand that it is free!

it definitely makes me crave for more in this style, the nostalgia or having been in a very active guild in an mmorpg when i was a teenager, with very well written characters - not literary but realistically of a chatroom.

i almost wish they would return to the world of Emberfate and follow more guilds because i really wish there was more, i even likes the whole idea of managing a guild and trying to find solutions to problems and conflicts.

I finished this game in about 5 hrs, so it isnt a long game at all, but it IS incredibly fun and sweet.

Whilst i love most of this game, some things in the game are beyond frustrating and really shouldn't have been implemented. most noticeably the 2D platforming sequences after cutscenes.

it adds nothing to the narrative, the controls are clunky, and nothing gets really explained about what you are doing and what things do in the level. you just have to figure it out. its annoying because there is also an added collection system, where you lose one every time you take damage, and you don't know what will or won't as it doesnt get explained at all.
all the while having to hear the main character whine and have some deep monologue.

there is a moment where the game explicitly tell you to crouch to be quiet and avoid an enemy's gaze, but then fails to give you any objects to block said gaze, and running around touching their asscheeks doesn't even matter.
why was i told to crouch then?

this is within 10hrs of the game, and whilst i love the environment and the other storytelling elements, it seems to suffer from a lack of quality glue to put all the pieces together seamlessly.

tldr; whilst the game has good ideas, some of them are badly executed. id suggest getting this discounted or via humble bundle

Don't expect a survivable game with harsh combat or environment or you will be disappointed.
however if you go in expecting a cozy little game that really encourages you to take it easy and take your time to just appreciate the changing world around you, this is a little gem.

maybe it simply speaks to how much of a nerd i am to get excited over seeing a barren wasteland slowly turn green and have water create lakes. as you progress trees and vines will open up new areas for you to explore.
and there is simply something so cool about the small little details the game has.

the only downside i have experienced is that the dismantling of build structures can be buggy as the person not hosting. but it really is but a small effort to get your friend to wreck everything you build.

Early Access Review
If i were to judge the game by simply core gameplay and story this would be a very positive review.

but honestly dont waste your time or money even getting started on this, because before you know it youre stuck in a sims4 alternate world and you will be a grand poorer faster than you can even pull out your card.

they rescinded their statements of being f2p - fine, it makes sense that a big project required a big funding to keep up. but i have never once in my life heard of having a paid game, with paid dlc, have paid battlepass and cosmetic mechanics.

supported this fromt he first month it came out and its feels like a bad relationship where you wish you could get back your money, your time, and frankly delete the memories of this. no matter how good a game you make, stop viewing your consumers as plain piggy banks.

Honestly this is a game that i will always love, its one you put on the backburner and start up some days and simply enjoy.

i have a good 71hrs in the game, first played in fall 2022, recently played again in may, etc.
this game does not need to be played every single day in fact i would advise against it. come back to it whenever you want, no guilt tripping from characters, no fomo from missed events etc, theyll be back next year and the year after.

its what i love the most about this, there is no rush.

the characters all have very different personalities and their stories are actually pretty heartfelt, cooking and crafting can be a bit tedious since you have to do it one at a time for different recipes, but that is something i am more than willing to overlook.

the music is by far the best part, right next to the adorable artstyle. its super relaxing and is my go to when i dont know what to play or feeling under the weather

Honestly when i first started playing the game was frustrating, but by the time you reach about 200 hours you have a decent understanding of the game.

the main reason why i wouldn't recommend it, more so now in recent times then in the earlier stages of the game, is the sheer disrespect the devs have for their game and their community. it has become increasingly clear that profit is their main concern and they themselves to not playtest/simply play their own game, and it shows.

whilst the game has been receiving visual updates and more content and dlc, it has sadly been to the detriment of core game mechanics and enjoyment. they do not listen to feedback resulting in really silly and frankly dumb update decisions.
in their quest for balancing you can expect something to always break.

ive been hoping for the past year they would not release new characters or chapters and simply focus on making the game function as best it can, and they havent.

i have since uninstalled the game and i hope i can find another to enjoy with friends because dbd's future sadly looks incredibly bleak.

price is a little high considering i finished the game in 4 hours, but it truly is an experience i will recommend to anyone.
there is no narration or storytelling yet it tells you all you need to know. i got legit invested and tried figuring things out.
on top of a cute relaxing game there are some very cool achievements to unlock
