I really can't stress enough how much fun I had in this game, but I'll try. Hedon, released by Zan, was originally a doom 2 mod that ended up aiming higher and higher for all the right reasons.
Granted, you can still play the mod version and you'll still have a superb experience but if you want further updates and content you'll have to get it on steam.
And believe me, after you're done playing the campaign, you'll want more. A sequel or a DLC is a good possibility and I'm hoping for one.

Now let's talk about the game itself. All you need to know about the protagonist is that she's badass, half-orc, half-demon and her name is Zan. Oh, and she's good at killing, and there will be aplenty.
The start is a bit slow but when the action kicks in, it really kicks in. Of course a slow start is not something unheard of in a good game and I could probably list at least a dozen of great games that start slow.
So while the first mission is the setup, once you reach the second mission you're already killing and slaying enemies like a maniac and doing so is rather satisfying.

The guns feel perfectly balanced and are quite unique. I especially like the nail gun and used it the most for long range attacks.
Your arsenal is definitely not that big (you do have alternative fire modes to the guns though and that's always a plus) but by the end you realize what you had was more than enough.
One of the more powerful guns you get a bit late in the game but once you have it you'll end up using it the most cause it's perfect for all the enemy types.

Did I mention enemies, enemies and more enemies? I know I did cause that's all you'll see for most of the time on each map and at a point you'll end up killing everybody and have to look for the next way forward, perhaps a key, perhaps a small puzzle to solve, it really varies depending on the mission.
I also liked the various environments created: you get forests, caves, lava, snowy mountains, temples. I think making different environments such as these was a great decision cause I always remember games easier based on their different environments.

The story of the game is alright and there's a lot of mistery and fantasy involved which is enjoyable. I can't really comment on the length of the campaign cause it really depends on the type of player you are. Maybe you're the type that wants to explore everything and find all secrets.
There's journals, a few characters that "talk" and in-game texts that you find around that shed a light about the world created or can help you proceed forward in your quest.

If you played all the games that the game took inspiration from like Hexen and Thief The Dark Project you'll recognize their them in the game at one point or another.
There's a stealth element to it as well that I didn't expect and it was more than welcomed and don't tell me the forest levels didn't remind you of the Pagans from Thief, taffers.
I forgot to mention the map and how useful it is showing you the keys required for the doors and such, here's hoping others take note of it.

The atmosphere and the soundtrack of the game are so good. Buying usused music from Deus Ex was also a smart choice even if, rarely, feels out of place but it's a fantasy world with some modern elements here and there so I guess that works.
And, there's probably a lot more to say but I suppose it's best for the people to experience themselves.

In short: If you're a fan of the old school shooters what are you doing here? Go play it! If you're not a fan of the old school shooters, Go play it! You'll become one.
The developer really put his heart and soul into it and it really shows so I guess it's time for us to show him our support.

Wenjia is a new title in the 2D platforming genre that delivers breathtaking art style, lovely relaxing music and decent gameplay mechanics.
There's certainly a lot to like about it, even if the time to finish it is rather short ( It averages at around 2 hours ) don't let that stop you from trying it cause Wenjia does offer quite a lot in the timespan it encompasses.
On first view, it's reminiscent of Ori and The Blind Forest and Seasons after fall but in the end it is indeed its own entity.
The high notes are definitely the amazing art style and the beautiful and relaxing music that fit strongly with the world created.

In the game there are two worlds that you are able switch to: The Material and Energy World. Most of the time I viewed the Energy world as the Haunted version of the Material one but they're both unique in their own way.
You play as a sort of feline creature that has the ability to jump (you'll upgrade that to double-jump after a while and that makes things easier) and, of course, to switch from one world to the other. A lot of times you'll find yourself, sometimes without realizing, just walking and getting immersed in Wenjia. Perhaps maybe too immersed and I feel the developers know this because of an included section where you can just sit on top of a rock and relax as long as you want. It's basically their way of saying: we know you want to.

The gameplay is decent and I can't say I encountered a lot of problems with the way things were handled in that regard. Maybe one or two areas that had a a few rather nagging parts that were kind of frustrating. Fortunately, one of them it's close to the beginning checkpoint of the level and if you get past it, you'll figure out the rest.
Playing Wenjia with a gamepad is recommended (it's a 2D platformer after all) but keyboard will do just fine as well. You might be able to find all the elements in the game on the first run but let's be real, most of the players won't. The developer suggest finding all these elements as that will affect the ending so there's a replayability factor to it.
The story is nothing groundbreaking and in some areas when you finish a level you do get a cutscene that explains more of the plot before continuing to the next level.

To put it plainly though, it's not the story that will keep you going in Wenjia...It's everything else.

------------------------------------------

What I liked:
- Amazing art style
- Relaxing music (Puts you in the right mindset)
- Decent gameplay mechanics
- Simple controls (a gamepad is recommended)
- Those bunny like creatures (just hang out with them ;)
- Some replayability

Neutral about it:
- Story was average (not really fit for negative category cause the story...just works)
- A bit short but, judging by the end, could there be hope for more? I certainly hope so.

What I disliked:
- Some frustrating parts here and there that took me out of the game. Nothing that can hurt the game in the long run.

I'm gonna keep an eye on future games from this developer cause Wenjia is without a doubt a hidden gem.

My final rating:
A strong
9/10

Mirror's Edge, developed by DICE and published by EA Games, is an astonishing game that, I believe, still holds strong till this very day.

This is a perfect game for freerunning/parkour and never actually gets dull for a single moment. The art style works well with the game and the graphics are still great for a late 2008-early 2009 title. The story is rather short but since the game is meant to be fast I guess it translates into the story as well.

Besides the gameplay and freerunning elements, another highlight is the soundtrack by Solar Fields. Playing this game I cannot imagine another OST that would fit as well as this one did. Everything binds together in an harmonic way that relaxes you and pumps you with adrenaline when needed.

What I liked:

- Graphics are still good
- Decent story
- Great gameplay/freerunning
- Amazing soundtrack
- Great title for speedrunning

Neutral about it:

- Short game but I suppose it was meant to be for a title such as this
- Ending is rather rushed

What I disliked:

- Combat is nothing great.
- Sometimes clunky controls and you want to do something and end up doing the exact opposite

In the end I feel this game is still great to play even for today's standards and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Final Rating
8.5/10

Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak is the latest installment in the Homeworld franchise, albeit a prequel to the story of Homeworld, and in my honest opinion it is indeed a game worthy of the title. The graphics are astonishing all thanks to the Unity Engine and, even though I'm not the biggest fan of Unity, in this title it really holds strong and you wouldn't notice at first that it's being used.

The story is great with a couple of twists and turns but I wish the ending would be a little longer. Still, diving right into the first Homeworld after playing this one is recommended. Sound design is also a big plus mainly due to the original composer, Paul Ruskay, being back to record.

A special acknowledgment goes to the cutscenes which fit in perfectly. Real live people and, what looks like, hand drawn pictures combined with 3D renders really give the game a certain natural feel.

That being said the game is far from perfect and has quite a few bugs and issues and some experience them more than others.

Even though no updates have been posted for months (though BBI have been teasing for something at the beginning of 2017, perhaps an expansion? ) this still feels great and as a fan of RTS I certainly had my fun.

What I liked:

- Great story
- Amazing graphics (Unity is much greater than I though in the right hands)
- Excellent sound design and music

Neutral about it:

- Campaign was not very long.
- Ending felt a bit short, would love some sort of expansion

What I disliked:

- A few annoying bugs (here's hoping they get fixed in the next update, whenever that occurs)
- Multiplayer issues
- In some regards it feels unfinished and unpolished
- Some performance issues

I'm really hopeful that this game won't be abandoned for good, because with a few updates (and maybe an expansion) this could become as great as the original Homeworld games.

Final Rating
8/10

早期アクセスレビュー
There is certainly a lot to like about this game. While it has its bugs, given that it's still in Early Access that can be forgiven, that doesn't stop it from delivering some great chilling moments and haunting atmosphere. The graphics are beautiful and trying different settings I realized the game was still up to par with today's standards. CryEngine 5 is a beast and I can't wait to see a lot more made with it. The sound design was perfect, playing with a headset is definitely recommended.

What I liked:

- Excellent Graphics
- Interesting Story (not finished at the time of writing)
- Great Sound Design
- Scary moments and chilling atmosphere

Neutral about it:

- A bit short but this is a game of exploring and not running like a maniac to the next area. Take your time, walk, don't run (unless you have a reason too).
- A few too scripted for my taste, in various areas.

What I disliked (mostly what every Early Access title suffers about):

- Bugs
- Crashes
- Frame Drops

To me this is one of the better Indie horror games out there in a market saturated with it.

I'll recommend it and give it an 8/10. I'll definitely replay it once it's fully released.

Well, it's certainly not as bad as people make it out to be. Not on par with the rest of the series but still I had some good time while playing it. I only recommend this game if you get it on sale/discount. I got the Balls of Steel Edition because it was on a big discount and I got it mostly for the goodies inside.

If you get the chance try the Duke Nukem Forever Mod for Duke Nukem 3D. That one is really amazing. And the DLC for it too...free DLC. Imagine that.
