Early Access Review
As someone who has FEAR in their all time FPS greats, Selaco does a lot to rekindle that feeling. It has a lot of the signature destruction, the ruthless AI. It's a happy marriage between so many classic influences that for the most part land extremely well. The levels are indulgent and generous with their secrets and spaces, many setting the battleground for epic gunfights. It's actually quite reminiscent of Half Life at times, with continuous connected levels and many a reward for leveraging the crates and tools around you to make your way through.

The combat itself is chunky, rarely a shot goes by without something bursting, breaking or all out shattering. The environment is extremely reactive and the sound design does a fantastic job of mirroring that as well. My only issues were the signposting at times, the game could do better in some spots where its not immediately clear what the player needs to do. Also, the AI is generally in a decent place, but I think there's room for improvement - as it stands right now, the AI is incredibly perceptive, easily spotting you often through a cascade of windows, props and smoke. It's not very fair and I think there should be some leeway with how they acquire and snipe at you from such distances.

But overall, fantastic effort and looking forward to the full 1.0 release.

Loved the game, its got a ton of hidden depth with lots of necessary deduction/induction to keep you going. There aren't too many indepth puzzlers like this, and you appreciate the hand crafted elements of the puzzles, with lots of little tricks to keep you going. Hexcells is somewhat comparable, but this does a far better job at absorbing you for hours with the complexity of its designs. Highly recommended.

Early impressions, but happy with what's here so far.

This one's a joy to play - a twin-stick shmup that takes on a roguelite format, with great audiovisuals that honor the legacy of that era of games. The combat feels satisfying and chunky, the difficulty is in a good place and the sound design tops everything off. Big recommend over the majority of twin sticks rogues out there

I like Grim Fandango, the artdeco noir style, the witty writing, the voice work, the world. It's just a shame the puzzles are so convoluted that they genuinely detract what is meant to be an epitome of Lucasarts point and click adventure games. I find it really hard to recommend, unless you plan on playing with a guide.

Gorgeous game in many ways. HOWEVER, it has a ton of performance issues that the devs refuse to acknowledge or attempt to deal with. It's been very frustrating and for that reason alone I cannot recommend.

Very enjoyable mix of Binding of Isaac with a big side serving of Resident Evil influence. Lots of characters, secrets, weapons, lore to unlock. It's not as massively complex as Isaac, but in all honesty that's probably a plus considering how daunting and overwhelming Isaac can be as its grown over the years.

Another roguelite shooter, with an undead western theme - which is something I think we need more of!

It's mostly okay, with satisfying combat but it doesn't really hold up compared to other games in its genre. Fights take place behind cover and emphasis is given to lining up your shots and slowly reloading. You don't have much in terms of fun abilities or synergies, the pacing is quite slow and the constant backtracking takes time - your character moves relatively slow compared to the size of the levels. Ron Perlman as a VA is technically competent here, but the direction and writing of the voiced over dialogue is pretty miserable and you just have a very bored sounding Perlman on top of a slowly paced game. Its definitely a missed chance to inject some life into the game with some personality.

Overall, solid core, but an undercooked game that has a lot of missed potential. Perhaps in a sequel....

The more I play, the less I like it. The rubberbanding is seriously heavy handed, and your car choice has little bearing on your ability to outrun the competition.

A zeitgeist of creative writing, characters and storytelling. Funny, evocative and brilliant - One of a kind that comes ever decade or so.
