I cannot recommend this game. There is a bunch of things wrong with it on a fundamental level.
1. It looks like a couple of uni students in a basement slapped together some simple Unity store assets.
2. The map is horrible and static and not even close to a "planet", 2x1 km at best.
3. Game balance and pacing are just fancy words.
4. And inventory management is a pain and probably me carpal tunnel, no stacking of items, and storage containers are half the size of buildings only able to hold like 50 items.
5. The developers even found an innovative way to make crafting hell, no recipes on the crafting screen you will spend half the time running frantically between your 200 chests looking for the resource, trying to remember what else was included.
6, Buildings don't snap to ground or foundations - I can place my cheap Unity asset 5 stories up in the sky with nothing supporting it.

Stay well clear on this one.

Game is OK, but I would probably would wait for it to be on a 50% sale. Replayability is limited. But what really kills the game for me, is the fact that it overheats my hardware. Did not mind at first, was playing with my headset on, and its winter. Then realised my CPU (5900x) is being pushed on 4 cores to 72deg on water. Forum has a sticky of user complaints and no resolution.

This is an amazing game, and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes city building, survival and steampunk. I really enjoyed the moral and philosophical questions thats being asked throughout the campaigns, and it lends a certain intellectual depth to this game, thats rare amongst most games.

For $25 you get a game thats fun and fulfilling, and to boot: promises free updates and expansions for the next year.

I bought this game at release in 2013 and have since then logged more than 2000 hours in this game.

While this game was great fun for the first couple of years, it has since waned in my opinion, especially the last year and a half. The initial expansions added substance to the game, and fleshed out mechanics, thereby giving a more in depth experience to the player. It felt as if you got value for your money.

Unfortunately it seems that Paradox has lost the plot since then, now they add half baked - unwanted mechanics - which is more frustrating to use than fun, or the DLC is bare bones, say for a couple of extra buttons and models and then they have the audacity to charge you $20+ for it. I can only describe it as a money grab.

Of course you aren't "forced" to buy any of the DLCs, however Paradox has been adding mechanics to the base game with each patch, which normally can only be influenced/controlled if you buy the accompanying $20 DLC, and by not having the ability to influence/control the mechanic can sometimes have a negative on your game play. So you are subtly forced, in certain cases, to buy some DLCs. Which in my opinion is dishonest on the part of Paradox.

Sadly in my good conscience I cannot recommend this game to anyone, anymore.

Don't waste your money. The game is broken on so many levels. Ran a constant budget deficit of about 11% only for it to change to 19% the next year on Jan 1st, for no apparent reason. Riots broke out as I had to cut spending and raise taxes. Waste of time.

Rust is a survival game created by the creator of Garry's Mod. It's the ruthlessness of EVE Online meeting Minecraft with a dash of CS Source. The developers succeeded in creating a hostile environment, where not only nature can kill you, but more likely other players. The aim of the game is to survive.

Players start out with only the basic essentials, a rock, 2 bandages and a torch. Starting this game can be quite tough and scary, but after a while you may come to see it as an opportunity. Players use then the basic tools, to gather resources and craft better tools, bases and weapons, always aiming to built a better base and gain a technological advantage in weaponry.

Once a simple base has been created and some weapons have been obtained, players have various choices of how they want to play the game. Some will opt to build massive "un-raidable" structures, others will extort or kill people and others will try their hand at dabbling with diplomacy.

Essentially Rust is what you make of it. If you expect to be spoon fed content like a zombie - Rust is not for you. But if you like the building, hunting aspect or complex human relationships, in a sandbox environment, coupled with survival you will love Rust.
