If you're expecting a fast paced DOOM-like retro FPS, this is not the game for you; however the developer has another game to sate that boomer shooter craving called Anopek: https://steamproxy.net/steamstore/app/1586370/Anopek/

A souls-like walking simulator with a retro shooter aesthetic, slow paced action, and a secret or two tucked in.
You drop on a foggy shore next to one of your own, either of you steps forward and you're immediately met with a peppering of bullets that will likely kill you; just like that you're back on the beach again, standing over your corpse, stepping towards the gunfire.
For $1.99 you get two hours of an interesting change of pace from your average souls-like, and while it plays like a longer demo, it's an excellent proof of concept with a lot of potential.
