Coming from Double Fine, I admit I really, really wanted to like this game. And some parts are very easy to like - the gorgeous graphics and talented voice cast was always its strongest selling point.

"Broken Age" sets up an interesting premise for Act I, which is then completely squandered in Act II, making the rest of the game's shortcomings all the more apparent. The writing and dialogue is disappointingly banal, the plotting is threadbare and as the game progresses the puzzles become increasingly clunky, illogical and repetitive.

That may sound a bit harsh–don't get me wrong, "Broken Age" is not an entirely bad game–but it doesn't have much going for it beneath its lush visuals and it certainly did not fulfil my lofty expectations.
