at the moment its hard to find the fun in this game

exploration is pretty shallow. upgrades either feel useless or just okay. combat feels kinda odd, and enemies will often get confused around terrain, stop moving entirely, and theres only a few types so combats are all kinda samey

the most frustrating thing to me is just how long everything takes. when you die it takes an eternity to just get back into a run, which gives you a lot of time to just want to close the game because it wasn't very fun to do anything else anyway.

i really hope this can go somewhere, the art is neat, the characters are dope, but its hard to pinpoint a single core mechanic i would describe as fun right now

wilmot fills me with joy

difficulty woes felt a bit exaggerated here in my experience, though i was well aware of the upgrade systems that help the player before reaching some of the fights people struggled with. the final fight was the only one that compared to some of the hardest offered in elden ring in my experience. it took me ~25 hours to complete the DLC.

i loved this though, there was a moment early on where I was a bit underwhelmed, but the areas i explored later really brought it up to the same quality of elden ring. the diversity of areas to explore is really a highlight for me.

the weapon offerings are really fun, and got me to swap around quite a bit throughout my run.

i only have a few gripes:

i really was already quite exhausted of catacombs in the base game, and to do more of them here felt like some of the lowest points of fun for me.

seeing some of the same repeated bosses from the base game here was kind of a bummer. i don't feel like they added much of anything, and i already knew how to fight them so it was one or two tries for them all.

furnace golem fights are deeply boring, i wish there were less of them throughout the dlc.

overall its great, i would recommend it to anyone wanting more elden ring but definetly don't go into this expecting big surprises like the river well.

yeah this is my game of the year

yeah this is the best roguelike i've played in 2023. the runs continue to be interesting and provide so many engaging choices for the player to make.

each update has been great, adding significant content at a pace i didn't expect. they also recently removed in-game monetization for cosmetic DLC packs which is really great to see.

i dont like many roguelikes but i do like this. the turn based combat is fun, co-op is well implemented, and each run is really interesting.
