Early Access Review
Now, my experience with dungeon crawlers has been a shallow one so far I'd argue. Definitely when it comes to real time combat games as most others I've played so far (such as Etrian Odyssey, Mary Skelter and the odd really old game) have all had turn-based combat.

I played the game on normal difficulty (choice of easy/normal/hard), where it took me ~11 hours to complete the game, and while the combat is easy most of the time, especially considering you can just sidestep attacks, there can at least be some somewhat tricky situations if you allow yourself to get cornered when there's like 10 enemies around.
Now, some puzzles actually have a really tight reaction window for you to get through certain passages and other hidden areas can be pretty hard to find sometimes.

For the combat itself you can choose between a variety of different classes that suit the classic roles of melee dps/ranged dps/caster/healer quite well, although all of them can partially fullfill other roles too. So while they all have their own identity, they can still help out in other ways when in a pinch. For melee attacks you simply click the attack button to attack enemies in front or around you, simple enough. While spells have to be casted by choosing the correct runes by hand, they are listed in the manual nowadays. Though spell scrolls still come in handy within the game, as they show you the mana cost for each spell too.

In terms of enemy types there isn't that many to be honest. Some of them will come with ranged attacks, while others have access to differing kinds of attack speeds or aoe effects that hit the whole party. There is an interesting system with elementals and their damage resistances going on, which is one of the things that requires you to create a balanced party at the start.

Loot like armour and weapons can mostly be found in treasure chests or simply bough upfront at the inn. As of the last update enemies can drop it too, while those would previously only drop food and other small stuff. There are some sidegrade options that you can choose between based on taste, but most of the time the stats are pretty straightforward and you'll always know what you could actually need. Later on in the game you get some more interesting options such as melee weapons with elemental components, which sadly don't matter that much as they appear too late into the game as of now. I hope this gets some attention until the full release, as it would liven up equipment choice a lot more.

The level design itself was decent, changing between sprawling dungeons with huge floors with wider rooms and tightly constructed mazes, so I'd definitely recommend playing with the minimap enabled, especially on later floors. The only downside being that the general theme of the dungeon only changes about every 3 levels.
The game comes with its own editor which allows people to create their own maps for the game as well, but to be honest, I didn't explore that feature too much.

Now, the voice acting. I don't think anyone will ever tell you it's good as it simply isn't. Then again, there's only really the intro and the ending which are fully voiced in the first place. From time to time you'll get some interjection from a party member during the game and that's about it. My Fighter became quite obsessive over moldy bread for some reason, every time I picked some up.

There is some bugs here and there such as being able to walk off from ladders into directions you're not supposed to be able to and the loading times can be on the longer side but I didn't encounter any crashes or major issues in my playthrough.

All in all it's an alright game with some good potential. Real time combat still isn't exactly my cup of tea but the exploration and riddles were right on point. Might not recommend a full price purchase as of now but on a discount it wouldn't be a hard choice for me. Especially considering the game is still in EA and continues to get updates.
