Short review for my (relatively) short playtime in this game.
Great core gameplay with nice graphics to pair with it. I started off doing the starter tutorial stuff, finished that up and did some low-sec mining because doing highsec PVE will get you nowhere. Got blown up a few times and figured out it was because I wasn't in one of the 'cool kid clubs'/corps/alliances. So I figured being in a big corp/alliance would be good so I joined one of Brave's entry corps that I forget the name to and made the trek to nullsec (at the time iirc it was in Querious). Mistake. Nothing really changed except now it's disorganized player groups instead of NPCs trying to fend off random player(s) coming in to snipe people trying to PVE. More money more problems I guess. Never did any wormhole/j-space stuff. At one point I figured out why people call the game a spreadsheet sim.
PVP gameplay revolves around heavily organized groups on a platform that I'd never heard of beforehand and can't remember now (more niche than teamspeak). This wouldn't be so bad if it didn't revolve around a bunch of the higher-ranked corp members basically circle-jerking each other. You weren't really allowed to play (combat) how you wanted either. Lot of micro-managing what you flew.

Longer than I meant it to be, but the TL;DR is that it's a nice core game but the playerbase gets to have too much control over it and it suffocates out any players that want an experience that's not a full time job.

Early Access Review
It's probably the best space combat game I've played to date. Combat feels smooth and engaging, and I like the gear system they use. That said: It does feel hollow. I can tell that there are missing features and functions throughout what I've played so far, but I understand that's just a part of it being Early Access. *That* said, I tentatively recommend it if you have cash to spare and know you like this kind of game. If not, I'd recommend waiting out the full release. Still fun tho

Early Access Review
Think of Asteroids, but as a Roguelike and more modern.
Even as an early access game, there are so many different ways to play.
Probably one of the most simple but at the same time most complicated games I can think of, and I like it that way.

The only game I think I've ever played where it got worse with updates. If they restore the game to how it was in 2014, it'd be a godlike game.

Things they did that ruined it:
Botched the economy and made it revolve around a crappy lootbox system.
They also ruined the old tech tree and mixed the progression system with the lootbox system.
An *update* to the graphics that was effectively just a shader pack that detracted from the cartoony style they had going and tried to make the game look more realistic, which would have been fine if they updated the rest of the graphics to match.

I hope they'll have learned from their mistakes before releasing the sequel.
