The game is broken. It won't save at any point beyond just before the control room firefight in the first mission.

So, after update 1.1.0, I feel comfortable recommending this game.

The biggest issue I had with the game, mini-games being able to appear nearly constantly, has been fixed, and for the first time, I felt like I was actually able to play the game, which is very fun.

The biggest gripe I have remaining is the way the maid spawns sometimes. The first game I played since the update, I spent the first 8 minutes or so not being able to use inputs 1, 2 or 3, because every time I tried, the maid spawned nearby almost immediately. I was half-way through the time before I managed to get more than a room away from the spawn point on any of those inputs. That said, I did ultimately get the remotes on all of those inputs, so take that as you will.

Kudos to Bartosz, too, for listening to the players and being proactive with the game!

This game is amazing. A fantastic fan entry for the Half-Life series, with writing and gameplay of such high quality that it could easily be an official entry into the series.

First off, I do recommend this game. I enjoy it a lot, it's both beautiful and terrifying. Unfortunately, that's also its biggest flaw. The tone of this game is all over the place. The lake section best exemplifies this tonal dissonance. One minute, you're traversing thin stone platforms, tensely listening to the splashes around you, knowing that if you fall, you'll be helpless against them, the next you're calmly paddling a boat through a sparkling cave to calm, disembodied guitar music.

The game can't decide if it wants to be a contemplative walking simulator or a tense horror experience, and that tonal whiplash takes away from both aspects.

This is actually the worst PC port I've ever had the misfortune of spending money on. It's such a disaster.

Now that the game is considered to be fully released, in it's current state, I can't recommend it. It's still suffering from system-specific texture bugs, leaving me with two options. I can either play the game with all textures shrunk to 64x64, or I can enable the workaround, which turns the game into a RAM muncher that crashes more often than Postal 3.
What a mess.

Really fun at first, but ultimately doesn't feel like there's much to it. Combat and gameplay gets stale fast, and the levels are all very samey. I'm sure this is a product of the random generation, but it totally fails to keep gameplay interesting, and is actually more of a detriment IMO.

If you can get it on sale, get it, but I can't recommend buying at the full price.

IMO, first RE game worth playing since RE4. Also the first game since then to not take the "everybody is a super powered super model" approach that honestly just made me cringe.

Constantly crashes in the later levels. The first levels worked just fine.

Overall good. Plays almost exactly like HL2 except for a few exceptions. The aesthetics are great as well. The story is less good. It's confusing, full of unexplained visions, and ultimately left me unsatisfied.
