Once you understand how signalling work, this game is truly remarkable. There are some features I would love to see added in the inevitable sequel (Subway systems, increased map variety, curved stations, combo bus/train/boat stations for example), but the core game is fantastic. If you ever wanted an economic simulator crossed with a model railroad with light city building thrown in, this is the game for you.

Has a bit of a learning curve, but once you get it, you're off to the races.

Got it through Humble Choice for like $8, and I am underwhelmed. The reviews that say "Animal Crossing without the charm" are pretty spot on. The first hour of the game is just a bunch of fetch quests. I miss the always running clock of Animal Crossing, where it feels connected to the real world. This world just feels so artificial in comparison. The characters are ugly. The music is basically Animal Crossing-lite. Meh.

Maybe I'll enjoy it more over time, but as of now it's just kinda boring.

Mini Metro is a fantastic puzzle game with a unique art style and some really challenging mechanics. I've been following the game since it went into Alpha and it has changed significantly with each update, adding new features constantly.

The beta release added some gorgeous UI tweaks that truly make the game feel like a proper game. Everything from the typography, to the minimalistic graphic style is absolutely gorgeous to look at. I can't wait to hear the music, and sound effects when they eventually get added.

The gameplay consists of a mix of puzzle and transport sim, connecting various stations (each a different geometric shape) to one another. Each station spawns various passengers, which need to go to their corresponding station (Square passenger goes to square station, etc.). There are so many approaches that you can take to each level that it feels like an open world puzzle game, something i've never quite experienced before. As the level progresses and the map expands more stations pop up, forcing you to constantly redraw your routes to add the new stations and passengers. If that station becomes too overcrowded it gives you about a minute before a game over screen.

Mini Metro is a refreshing departure from the typical puzzle game, one that can be relaxing, challenging and rewarding all at the same time, all while looking absolutely stunning. What a fantastic game, can't wait to see what the developer adds to make it better.

I really want to like this game. Literally everything I want in a transport management game, but it really suffers from the technical aspect. First off the game feels like it was designed to be played on a tablet, only offering windowed and full screen options, and that's it. You're also constantly dealing with multiple currencies (Fuel, XP and Money), but seeing as how the game is only $4 I can forgive those minor issues. Other issues however include that the game looks really rough, everything just feels unfinished, and lacks polish. The UI also looks quite rough and in need of a coat of paint, and some tweeks in funcionality. Navigating a plane from the gate to the runway takes a few too many clicks in different locations for my taste. Same goes for navigating a plane from the runway to the gate. Why do I have to load the plane with passengers prior to sending it to the hanger for repairs? I doubt the passengers want to sit on the plane while it's being repaired.

The tutorials suck as explaining the game to you, you're better off just going with Trial and Error. Danger symbols aren't explained until you figure out what they are, which probably means your plane will explode before you figure out why it exploded. There is also very little incentive to fly anywhere other than Miami, as it gives you a bunch of XP and Money.

I really want to like this game since I have always wanted to have a good airport management sim, this game lays the foundation, but needs work technically and design wise. If the developer is able to clean up the graphical issues, and smooth over the learning curve there might actually be an excellent game here. However for now, it still needs a lot of work.
