I'm voting this not recommended, but only just.

On the gameplay side of things, it's mostly great. Plenty of things to do, great humor, LotR. However, there are a few headaches.

Here's my list of cons for gameplay:
*Planks. Why do these feel so difficult to move onto?
*Inventory. So cumbersome. I don't see why we can't use the radial menu for mithril items.
*Character swap. Sometimes you'll get stuck swapping between your player 1 and 2 characters. Other times you'll swap to your 2nd character who will then swap to the character you wanted. Both can result in losing your spot on a ledge. Then other times you'll have to loop through them for a long while to find the one you need or to open the giant menu of them.
*AI. You're ally will often get stuck, keep dying, or expect you to hold their hand.
*Custom character creation. Terribly limited in a number of ways. Only a few hairstyles, only a couple types of weapons, must have a cape, no extra abilities, can't have a female voice.

Here's a list of cons for the technical side:
*Crashes. Only had a handful of these, but it still set back progress.
*Graphic errors. This only appeared in a certain puzzle room in Cirith Ungol, but caused me to believe my graphics card was dying.

Already a great game at this stage of development. Eagerly awaiting more updates.

P.S. Don't mess with gators

The makings of a great game right off the bat.

I intend to play more as patches roll through, so I MAY update this, though I doubt my favorable review will switch.

If you need pros, you can read the features. I will be focusing on criticism, oddly enough.
-Painfully slow scrolling in level up and first time ship encounter windows.
-Ships could feel stiffer in combat. Animation reminds me of JRPG characters hoping back and forth to attack.
-Right clicking on enemies in ground combat doesn't bring up information. This may be intended.
-Can't see what choices your other officers have when leveling.
-Can't seem to access planets you're fleet is already at. Have to leave briefly then head back.

Other than officer leveling, these are very minor. I expect all will be addressed by the developers soon enough.

Pales in comparison to the work done in the previous title and had confusing wording on pre-order "exclusive" bonuses to boot. Hardware compatibility is largely a thing of the past, then this mess comes along to remind us.

An easy and fun enough game to pick up and play occasionally, but dev direction has become questionable since early game development.

[6-4-2015 Update]
With team-up 2.0, all heroes available up to level 10, and free respecs(all of which were a long time coming), I'm tentatively going to recommend the game.

I feel the game is still being held back due to a few things though. To name a few: costume availability, pricing, new character development impeding current character balancing, long standing bugs, patching size and issues, and lack of much end game content.

And not to mention the occasional lie from devs. Eternity splinter drop inaccuracies(which other players have vehemently defended without testing). Chase costumes never being available outside of rare drops, yet now we can buy them. No playable villains, but now they say no one is truly a villain.

[6-26-2015 Update]
Back to being unrecommended. The 2nd anniversary made me remember how often they crank out bugs on things that shouldn't have even been touched according to what was done in the patch notes. Quick example, all of Thor's costumes being set to matte material and male stance. The male stance only affected the enhanced costume, but turned her into a living nightmare due to how different the rigging was. Devs are continuing to lie about things, in this case the Iron Man Mk II team-up was denied after info about it was leaked.

I've also realized I wouldn't have spent as much time or money as I have on this ARPG if it wasn't Marvel. That's not to say anything about it feels inherently Marvel, it's just a skin and could easily be about some other subject. This leads to another problem. Gaz makes the majority of its money off of alternate costumes. Now, for most F2P games I'm fine with cosmetics being either more costly or exclusively bought with money, but costumes in MH end up being almost or just as important as a character itself.
