Single player is outstanding - Online is great but needs more love. That said, I have been playing since it came out on PC so have done everything, where as a new player will have lots to do.
Play solo or with others. I play solo daily and still love the game. There are still the odd few hackers online but very rare (lucky if I see one once a week) if you do come across one just log and go to new server ...

I first played this game for the open beta and didn't like it at all.
a couple of years later I gave it another try for the free weekend and have been hooked ever since.

If you want to join guilds, play with friends or make new ones by partying up with others it's here.

If like me you hate other people and just want to solo and explore a huge open world, well that's here too!

For those that can't access Kingdom campaigns :

1. Go to your library
2. Right click Medieval II: Total War
3. From here you should be able to see the Kingdom campaign shortcuts (steam really needs to put these on desktop)
4. Highlight the one you want to play & hit play
