I'm going to update this as I move forward through the game (having played 10 hours right now), but let's get the elephant out of the room: this game -overall- is goodish and it feels damn great to be back in the world of Dragon Age after waiting for almost 10 years! Only few hours in and the game already proves a lot of the exaggerated negativ critics wrong - which doesn't mean there could've been some things done a little better or some more effort put in some of the details - but overall (my score will probably be a 7 out of 10) this is a game that I can still recommend!

Simply put, The Veilguard is an Action-RPG at best. Compared to it's predecessor Inquisition it takes a few steps forward as well as a few steps back. Unfortunately, the story and the pace as well as the dialogues lack a usual and consistent standard. It ranges from subpar to great, from thoughtful to superficial and meaningless (Antivan Crows - I'm looking at you!). Same goes for the Side Quests. Nonetheless the story and characters so far are good, the combat system feels much more complex and less repetitive than in Inquisition and the graphics run smooth like hell and look awesome (although some of the enemy designs don't match my taste)! No noticeable bugs or crashes so far! Besides all of that: No EA-Launcher, no Microtransactions and pausable Cutscenes are a great addition! <3

And if you expected something like DA:Origins or BG3, please, be finally honest with yourself. That was never gonna happen and the evolution of the DA Games - starting with DA2 and culminating in DA Inquisition ten years ago - already showed you which way these games (and Bioware in general) were heading. And it's not like The Veilguard tried to hide it from you... Times change and so do companies, people and games - especially over more than a decade - and you'd be best to accept this, in this case and in the real world out there - makes life a lot more easier ;-) You're not happy with how it turned out? Leave it be! Just because something doesn't meet your expectations, doesn't mean you've to talk it down or downvote. Simply don't buy it. End of story. Especially after you've been given so much Info, Trailers, Previews, Let's Plays and stuff to make up your own mind.

And one last word on the "woke accusations": There's a certain segment of people that don't like the fact a game in 2024 was created based on modern society standards instead of past societies' and that it accounts for all types of people rather than sweeping certain types under the carpet. It doesn't matter that all the things they object to are optional - they're mad that everyone gets to be represented. What do I care if you don't drink alcohol, eat meat, don't smoke or prefer to play on consoles for reasons? Do as you like - it doesn't hurt me! And so doesn't the representation of "woke" topics! Most of the stuff seems to be optional and so far nothing is "rubbed in your face". Simply accept it. As I said earlier: it makes life a lot more easier.

If you're still unsure - wait for it being on sale. And with all that said: Have fun playing the game!

I found path. I make king. Can recommend!

(If you're only interested in the good story and in building a kingdom, change the difficulty to "I'm just here for the story" and you will have a great time, without any of the problems regular or die hard players experience!)

This game puts you in charge as president of sordland and teaches you a lot about past and current politics (though appropriately disguised as ingame stories) and why nothing in politics comes for free or is decided easily and to everyones utmost satisfaction. There will always be winners and losers in this world. There will always be circumstances and dependencies forcing you to make compromises or go full autocrat. Nothing is ever easy.

It's a great game that supports lots of different playstyles and offers lots of different endings (some sooner, some later) depending on your actions. Give it a try - you won't regret it!

A Morgna wes core!

I've been with the X-series since the beginning and in my opinion this is by far the best part of it which holds lots of potential for future updates and DLC! Despite the mixed reviews, this is a great sandbox simulation game! It's probably the most beginner friendly and easiest one of the whole series, too. Although I can't really recommend to play it without mods in it's current state, this game is really good and it will live up to your imaginations!

It is a bit buggy, still, but there are constantly updates coming for this game, as usual. Thank you Egosoft!

For the Newcomer reading this:
This game has everything but a story. If you are looking for AAA-storytelling and top of the notch scripted missions - this game is NOT for you! However, the game has a lot more and almost endless possibilities to offer, if you can make up your own sotries, set your own goals and use your fantasy! See for yourself what this huge universe has to offer and build up your own empire. Follow your dreams and make the best story out of it - theres literally everything possible in this game.

Last but not least: there are almost no tutorials at all. Although it is, like I mentioned above, the most beginner friendly
X-game, you will still need to find things out by yourself, watch youtube videos or read articles about it. But don't let this spoil the potential fun for you. It will be worth every second of your time. I promise!

This is an awesome game and I can't wait to see what the future updates may hold!
X-veterans: hit the buy button!
Also real multiplayer would be nice!!! :)

Alright, 22 hours into the game and I have to say that it's pretty damn decent. Especially for the price!

Really nice and fitting art style and definietly one of the best soundtrack in a game...ever!
If you love weed or the 420 culture, this makes it pretty easy: Buy this game now and enjoy it! It's fun, sometimes educational and plays really well.

If not, and you are here out of curiosity, keep the following in mind:
- no sandbox mode
- kind of repetitive
- not a full fledged managment/simulation game
- no industrial (big scale) cultivation of weed

Still, the price, the music and the subject make it woth a try!

I liked it a lot so far! <3

Stimmige Grafik und packende Atmosphäre! Völker, die sich endlich auch unterschiedlich spielen! Atemberaubend inszenierte Schlachten! :)
