Have you ever wanted to write multithreaded programs full of data races in BASIC-y language whose only control structures are simple if-else and jumps? Me neither.

But you should try it, cause the game is great.

The programming language for your office workers gets introduced slowly, so even without any prior programming experience one should manage to follow it, the main tasks-puzzles are doable, and optimizing challenges get hard (and still often it is possible to go much below what the challenge asks for…). Also, the game runs flawlessly on Linux.

A modern, nice looking “Robin Hood: Legend of Sherwood”-like set in Edo Japan, working on Linux, supporting cotrollers. What’s not to like?

It’s a really nice real-time tactical stealth-game that gets pretty hard quite early. Save often. ;-)

EDIT:Even though it crashes a lot with Steam Controller, seems to work OK with keyboard. After remapping controller buttons to keyboard, the game is fully playable and fun.

Crashes every few minutes on Ubuntu 17.10 with nvidia-837 graphics drivers on GTX 1070. Would love to play it, but I cannot because of technical issues, and so won’t recommend it.

Very nice programming/micro-optimization asm game. The graphics and animation let you forget you are programming and they nicely visualize what actually happens in your program. And seems that non-coders can enjoy it too.

The instruction set you have in game’s programming language are very assembly-like, and the ‘employee’ you program with the office are a nice model of a working CPU – with floor representing general purpose registers (or memory cells), the employee themselves the accumulator, and the inbox/outbox the memory (accessed as a queue).

The interface may be (as indicated by many other reviews) a little bit cumbersome at later stages, the puzzles are totally not like a typical modern programming challenge, but it is enjoyable, let’s you learn/revisit some math, and understand some things about the computer’s machinery.

It won’t teach you programming. It won’t teach you good programming practises. It will teach you microoptimizations – eg. it’ll force you to unroll a loop to make your program faster.

Overall it is an enjoyable, math puzzle and low-level programming game.

Great, fun coop platformer with a little bit of RPG-like skill tree. :)
