Great game. Units are responsive, graphics are fresh, and the balancing changes make for a unique experience. Main feedback in the beta was voice acting and artwork. The devs were able to muster up their forces and address both of those issues in full. There are a handful of issues with how the lobby browser works, matches crashing, and pathfinding - but those are in the works to be fixed. With new DLC on the horizon, for single and multiplayer alike this is well worth it's salt for old & new fans of the series.

As a casual RTS player all of my life, I've never been able to fully immerse myself into an RTS the way I have AoE4.

This game strikes an excellent balance between a player's APM and decision making throughout the match, with the latter carrying more weight. You never really feel like you lose a match due to gimmicks or cheese play. In the instances I have, whenever I go back and watch the replay, I see several decisions made that led to the outcome.

Overall now is the best time to get into AoE4. The game continues to grow with a new campaign, new civs, and a ton of new quality of life additions. AoE4 developers clearly listen to the community, and there's no doubt in my mind that they will continue to deliver over the coming years as this game becomes better and better.

Age of Empires 4 was going in the right direction for several months with their quality of life improvements and balancing changes. The Sultans Ascend has taken this further, propelling AoE4 to greater heights.

Each of the 2 new civilizations and the 4 variant civs are fun to play and breathe fresh air into the game. If you're new to AoE4 in its entirety, the replayability on working to master each civ alone is immense.

From a multiplayer perspective, the game still feels very balanced with the old civs contending well vs the new. Combinations for team games are endless, and with the addition of 2 beautiful biomes and several new ranked maps, players can test their mettle in lush savannas as the Japanese facing the Malians amidst new maps offering new strategic play.

The devs continue to listen to the community, bringing favorable and well thought out changes each patch. The game is night and day compared to where it was at launch, and if you're looking to play AoE4 during its Golden Age, the time is now.
