ANNO: Mutationem is a game of two halves where the latter completely killed it for me. Whereas I was totally sucked into the graphic style, the world and the mixture of a story-driven adventure and action initially, the game and story devolve into something that feels uneven at best, hooking into too many tired anime cliches. The constant unnecessary thought bubbles, the breathy voice-overs and the excessive reactions to conversations all tread on cringy Saturday morning cartoon territory. That said, there's plenty here to appreciate if you like this style of storytelling but unfortunately for me, it was wearing thin by the end. Which probably wasn't helped by the unexpected and somewhat tedious spongy boss run for the last few hours. If I could vote with a "meh" on Steam then that's where this verdict would sit as its clear the developers put much love into the game but as it stands, it's a no for me.

Yeah mate. Hard not to. The price of games alone on console is insane. Started out building a pc with the intention of knocking out a few of the gfwl games but looking at steam prices etc... converted me.
