I love Helldivers. It's one of the most fun games I've played, period. The space marine/Starship Troopers aesthetic is on point, and it's a great way to spend an evening with 3 other friends.

And that's why it hurts me to not recommend this game.

This game has tons of potential, much of it realized. A dynamic community war effort, with a diabolical human DM as a nemesis, constantly challenging the player base. And yet, it has bugs introduced every patch. The phrase, "Real Men Test In Production" must be posted all around the offices at Arrowhead. The most egregious bug, however, is why I haven't personally played the game for months: Crossplay has been broken since launch. A core feature of this game, the crossplay with PC and PS5, does not work, and no progress has been made on this since February. Constant patches, content updates, all come with the bittersweet knowledge that you still cannot add friends from other platforms. I have friends who *literally* only bought the game so we could play together, and that promise has gone unfulfilled. Until Arrowhead makes their game *actually* cross-platform, I will not play or recommend this game to others. There's other games out there that you can have as much fun with your three best buds, that actually deliver the features they promise.
