Another non-game walking simulator with last minute weak "gameplay" elements. It also feels rushed or trimmed as if after playtesting the game revisions were made to make it even more linear and obvious. If you're looking for a walking simulator with all the supernatural bite of a Hardy Boys novel look no further.

Anyone looking for an actual game experience should avoid this at all costs.

A unique game, thouroghly enjoyable with just a few mechanical issues.

It plays a bit like an Oregon Trail crossed with an RPG and a little bit of choose your own adventure style choices thrown in for good measure. The graphic stlye is stunning and the minimalist animations only serve to further the overall feel of the game rather than detract from it.

I played through it twice because it took me that long to figure out the combat mechanics and create a team that I thought truely would dominate. It was a joy to play through both times though I didn't enjoy clicking through the story I had already been through the first time, especially when a click could cause you to take a wrong choice at the end of the dialogs, which caused a major change in my second play through.

The issues I have with it are combat mechanics, a muddy area about penalties for not having food, and the purpose to the followers in your caravan. In combat it feels a bit too puzzley and most of the best strategies involve tricking the AI into doing stupid things, which is counter to how smart the game says the enemy is.

The tone of the game, impending doom, is portayed quite well and you feel a genuine pressure to run from an enemy you will likely find overwhelming until you figure out the mechanics. However, without too much of a penalty to having your party wipped out, this veneer of danger drops the more familiar you become with the game. Don't let me spoil it for you though, I won't get into specifics.

Overall, like I said before, I really enjoyed this game and would recommend it to most gamers. From the moment I started playing I really couldn't quit until I had completed it twice, and finally, now that I have, I've got it out of my head. Now I just have to wait for the next chapter.
