This isn't so much a game as an audio drama that you listen to while driving through a beautiful pixel cyberpunk city. The story and voice acting is great and I thoroughly enjoyed my 8-ish hours of play time, but it is definitely not for the zoomer-brained dopamine-starved cutscene skippers out there, the gameplay is very shallow and very much serves as just a conveyor for the plot.

Took me about 12 hours to beat on my first run, 10 on my second as a pretty experienced gamer. If you plan on picking this up, one word of advice, buy the Rapier and upgrade it as soon as possible.

I am 50 hours in and I have no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ clue how to play this game, I haven't actually won a single non-tutorial scenario yet, it's all menu and no visual. I love it.

Zoned out and beat the singleplayer on hard in three and a bit hours, lots of fun, faithful and orky representation of the setting, a bit short on content for the price tag, but what is there is very good, did crash once.

Extremely solid solid and unique gameplay loop of combat and that's about it. I really enjoyed my time with this game but I can only do one thing over and over again, even if great, so many times. The main issues is the game totally lacks any 'life', beyond the opening and tutorial, you really are loosed onto a giant map to battle on until you win or get bored. There is no story, no characters, no dialogue. The pilots have an entire menu dedicated to them that doesn't do anything except changing their appearance. The only story tidbits you get are through very brief popup events which have little to no bearing on the game and always present an obvious choice.

There is also a very in-depth mech customisation system, as well as crafting and a workshop, which I completely ignored. If you ambush the equipment convoys in neighbouring hostile sectors, they almost always drop gear much better than what you can craft. The ideal way to play is NOT to create ideal builds with scavenged and crafted components, but simply to ambush convoys until you have your mechs equipped with the relevant tier of gear, meaning all of my mechs were always some Frankenstein of the best loot that, while not being synergistic, was simply stats wise good enough for me to capture the sector and continue the cycle.

Finally, unlike others games of the genre, there is no time pressure. I can pick away at the enemy, an ambush here, a base raid there, until I am completely overmatched to the enemy in the sector and can roll over them. Even if it takes tons of in-game time, I can make an attack and immediately run back into my own territory to resupply with no repercussions. This eliminated all the tension and makes it tedious and unloseable if you play it properly.

All-in-all, I cannot recommend this game at the moment, it feels like a group project where the 'Combat mechanics and visuals' person knocked it out of the park but the rest of his project members did the bare minimum and left. I hope in the future I can change this review to a positive one when they address some of the lack of mechanical diversity, overworld issues and introduce more story elements.

Beautiful graphics and atmosphere and a very compelling combat system, control scheme is horrific and there is not really any good way of fixing it.

It's like if Team Fortress 2 and Escape from Tarkov had a roguelike singleplayer child drawn in a comic style, very fun.
