I have purchased this game 3 times: one being day one of PS4, two being day one on Epic, and lastly day one on Steam.

Crippling debt ensues.

After 100 hours of playing this game I have done most of what is available to do. The game is certainly very enjoyable but as most games go, there are a couple issues I have run across that I will share in my review.

What I Enjoy About the Game

- The visuals are absolutely stunning if you have a machine powerful enough to support them. My PC runs a 3060ti and an overclocked i7-9700k and runs max quality (no ray tracing) very well at 1440p. My computer unfortunately does not handle even the basic ray tracing at a smooth rate so for those with 1440p monitors like my own, you will either need to change to 1080p or have at least a 3070 to run 1440p with ray tracing to obtain manageable frame rates.

- The game play is certainly different than the original, but both are very enjoyable (it doesn't take much to please me so take that with a grain of salt). For a comparison from my own point of view, the first Dying Light I felt like you could be a lot more gung-ho in the beginning levels compared to this one where you really have to over-level to be able to confidently go around and not worry about dying. A lot of the vital survival skills you will have to grind for (I'm not kidding when I say being able to run is a skill you have to level up for). For me this is not a problem, but if you do not like to explore and only go for the main story, I'm afraid it will be a bit difficult to progress, but if you like a challenge go for it. I got to level 8 and almost maxed out my skills before touching majority of the final main story missions but it certainly made it enjoyable to absolutely ruin a boss mobs day.

- The freedom you get in this game to move about is incredible, and there are a lot of secrets to be found everywhere on the map. With max stamina you are able to fly across half the map and get to high buildings with ease. The grappling hook is definitely less cheese-worthy than the first game but it is a lot more realistic in terms of swinging and pulling yourself closer to your grapple which is something I found enjoyable.

What I Dislike About the Game

- If you are the type of person who wants to complete every available mission, you must find and complete the side-quest called "The Living Dead" before finishing the story. The reason I say to do this is a spoiler for the story but without spoiling it all I can say is if you don't do it before finishing the story, you will not be able to do this side-quest and will have a permanent marker on your map for something you cannot finish. For those who want to know why it cannot be done, here is the explanation: The end of the story involves multiple missiles being launched into the city, which obviously would destroy some buildings. I don't know if Techland knows this but they decided to destroy a building with an antennae on it which is part of The Living Dead side-quest, thus making it impossible to complete since the entire building is now rubble on the ground. If you want to finish everything you MUST do this quest before finishing the main story.

- Some things just do not work when you want them to, such as survivor sense. I do not know if they will make a fix for it anytime soon but every now and then after doing one successful Q (survivor sense button), it just does not want to work on the second Q or any after for that matter. To fix this I usually have to either stop crouching (which sucks in a den of infected or volatiles) and try pressing again, or I have to spam crouch and Q for 30 seconds and then it suddenly decides to work again. If you are the type to grind zombie materials in forsaken stores and dark hallows during the day, then this bug is detrimental and could cost you your life in the game.

- The physics can be a bit unreliable when moving around, it's mostly just infinite falling animations in certain situations (easy to get out of though). I have only encountered one game stopping bug and it's during the tutorial before you even get to the city; there is a certain hole somewhere in the beginning of the game to where you get in the city where it's just a non-rendered pit where if you went into it you become stuck and unable to move. I do not know if the hole is still there, that was on launch day and I am unaware if they located the hole and fixed it, but it was there when I went through the tutorial.

Other than that there is not much else worth mentioning that I dislike about the game and it was worth the pre-order.
