I stand as far away from the bowl as possible and urinate a high reaching rainbow and quickly scamper towards the bowl as my bladder empties and the stream lessens in force and loses its consistency. I chart the distance of my stream by placing strips of scotch tape on the tile floor, and track the height by making tick marks on the wall with a pen I keep stashed in the tank of the toilet. I hide the distance markers with a bathmat. A hand towel is draped over the tick marks on the wall. Nobody in my family knows of this practice. It is my obligation. It is my burden. It is my masterpiece.
