Throwaway account because I have severe anxiety and am genuinely terrified of confrontation. But I really needed to get this off of my chest.
Having a familiar is such a deeply emotional and spiritual thing. But I’m seeing several posts where members very casually refer to every animal, bird, or bug they briefly see as “a familiar”, and I feel that it demeans that extraordinary bond one develops with their genuine familiar.
Please consider the usage of the term and distinguish whether or not you are referring to your actual familiar, or whether you may be unintentionally appropriating the term to describe any creatures you see.
It would mean so much to me to not see this term cheapened or appropriated.
