Early Access Review
Great ARPG. Very nice graphics, animation work and gameplay. Excellent sound/music and outstanding voice. Love that everything is voice acted as it makes it much easier for me to engage with the dialog and enjoy the optional dialog too. The game also clearly borrows the best of D3 with free unlimited town portals and random chest events in the world. WASD controls are making waves in the ARPG/MOBA industry for good reasons.
Sometimes the rendering engine crashes but kudos to the game, it recovers from that after a few seconds. This is on the pros list.

But it has some problems..
* Can't switch skills when you switch weapons so if you go from a Crossbow to a Spear (for example) you cant have the basic attack of the spear on left click since that's where your crossbow fire button is. If you press left click, it switches you back to the crossbow. Its a very strange choice. I have no idea who thought this was ok and who thought forcing this on players (no setting to change it) was a good idea.
* Reloading right after a roll has a really long delay. Make it so we can reload while rolling for gameplay reasons (I know its less realistic but I'm not here for realism im here for good gameplay).
* The skill tree is worse than ever with far more stuff that I'm not interested in grouped in my way so I have to waste more points on stat nodes and it makes less sense what I should get.
* Per-weapon set skills are a limited subset and the UI defaults to assigning to both sets at the same time every time you log in so its nearly impossible to correctly dual-spec
* No i-frames when rolling feels wrong and inconsistent with every other game ever.
* Messages in chat will cause the game to micro-freeze. Even when chat is hidden!
* Some boss mechanics defy physics to screw over the player. Lots of bosses will leap at you and adjust trajectory mid-way so its impossible to tell if you're going to get hit.
* Many boss mechanics have a strong bleed effect so that drinking potions after getting hit will not prevent your death. Just remove potions from the game if you anyway invalidate them in so many scenarios.
* M being key bound to the Microtransaction shop is a bit of a fk you. But at least they don't prevent you from reassigning the key.
* I wish they had borrowed D3's larger inventory space. There's simply no fun to be had from going back to town every 3 minutes to sell items.
* The minimap needs a visual upgrade. it looks dated, ugly and sometimes hard to decipher.
* Picking a support gem from the full list won't tell you ahead of time whether or not you can even use it. Some gems have effects that sound useful for your skill but then the game doesn't let you use them.
* If you spend too long in town after using a town portal, the portal is deleted and the zone is reset. If you go back to town to empty bags to collect some boss loot, it'll just be deleted without warning.

The game is too buggy and way too awkward. I really wanted to like it but there's only so many slaps to the face I'll take before its time to move on.

First boss is a summon boss and you don't have enough damage to kill the summons faster than they spawn. After 15 minutes of kiting and fighting with little progress I alt+f4 and leave review lol.

Play Marvel Rivals. It's better and as a bonus you get to punish Blizzard for their terrible content and monetization choices since Overwatch 1.02 released.

Can't play the game since it switched my Bluetooth Headphones to Handsfree mode despite the Handsfree mode being disabled in windows. No options in-game to change input/output device so that's that. 0/10 literally the only game I've ever played that had this problem.

Having said that, go ahead and buy it. You'll find out in the first 5 minutes that it's fked. Just don't try to find a way to fix it and damage your hearing in the process - just Alt-F4. Save yourself the trouble I had to go through.

Great game.
Excellent ship building that could benefit from a few more components and variants.
Fantastic gameplay loop until about 20h where you hit a dead end on all outstanding missions, start to blind explore space and spend a long time achieving not much. This is the only complaint I have and this "content drought" gets more and more frequent as you progress further. You discover a new cluster of systems, explore it, get some missions progressed and then back to manual exploration with a bunch of dead missions.
Very polished with rich interactions with different factions. Choices matter in just enough cases to make the game feel great to explore.
The trading system is good - doesn't seem to be designed for people who want to trade as a profession but do let you swap resources around to allow you to improve your ship in the ways you prefer.
Research system is satisfying but could also benefit from more nodes, more choices and more options for how to develop your ship.
Flavour text is decent but as someone that doesn't have the patience to read constantly, I would have appreciated some voice acting - even if the voice acting wasn't high quality.

Has a steep barrier for entry that levels off quite quickly. I recommend using a guide to get you started - the game has a lot of bosses you need to come back later to finish off and mobs that should be avoided. There's also a lot of very obscure hidden loot.

Combat is really fun and build diversity is good with each build completely changing how you fight enemies.

Has some startup issues where you sometimes have to wait on a blank screen for 15 minutes before the game loads up.

This game is reasonably fun with good graphics and lots of mini-activities/collection tasks to fill you're time between main story and side quests that feel interesting and rewarding. I'm giving a positive review since these positives are the bulk of the game but there are a large number of negatives I cannot overlook.

Menus/Launch:
* Unskippable seizure warning every start up. 10 seconds.
* Long "preparing shaders" step every start up. 60 seconds.
* Lots of click-and-hold interactions and unnecessary confirmation boxes.
* Many menus require you to press Escape 3 or more times to get out of them. This is especially bad for the Quest Journal where pressing J opens it but pressing J again will only return you to the main in-game menu - not back to the game.
* Many times you have to use keyboard to interact with menus and no clickable button is given. In all these cases, the same amount of screen space is used to give players the keybind information as would be taken with a button. Just a lazy port as usual.

Character Creation:
* No ginger hair colour in the character creator.
* Can't click and drag to go through the selectors, you have to release the mouse before the change (e.g. hair colour) is previewed.

Story:
* Wishy washy writing with all the non-villains being cartoonishly friendly and kind and the villains being cartoonishly bad and mean. Even JK Rowling wrote better than this.
* Very disloyal to canon. Mostly in nitpick areas like learning Wingardium Leviosa much later than other, more advanced spells but other things are more serious like the entrance hall, great hall and the main staircase being relegated to a small corner of the castle instead of being major set pieces at the core of the map. The latter also isn't a shifting staircase, instead stairs merely undergo cosmetic changes and you can ignore those since the stairs always come back when you walk up to them. Hagrid's hut and the dark forest is a good 5km trek from the castle so that breaks all manner of canon. In short, no love was put into making hogwarts and it's grounds lore accurate.

Gameplay/Activities:
* No sorting ceremony test, just asks you where you want to be and that's it.
* No quidditch. No DLC that adds it, nothing.
* No interactive potion making.
* The combat should have been a stance-break-style gameplay where stance is "focus" used to block/deflect spells. This would have been more fun and more lore accurate. Combine this with a basic cover system and you're golden. Instead, they invent this concept of a "basic cast" that you'll be spamming all game and categorising spells in a number of colour coded groups used to break made-the-♥♥♥♥-up shields that enemies can gain. Very lore inaccurate and very not fun.
* Flying controls are abysmally bad. Your camera is locked so you can only see side-to-side, you have to use WASD, Ctrl, Shift, Space, Left Click and mouse orientation in tandem to control your flying which is near impossible to do making the timed obstacle courses miserable. Especially due to the massive momentum/drift you have. I don't know why 20 year old games have this right and these devs didn't. Just make me fly in the direction I'm facing! Pitch too! Farking hell they had the grads working on this one.
* Spamming Revelio to find things in the map breaks immersion and the chime you get when a codex page is near is unreliable, inaccurate and gets quieter when you get closer sometimes based on the spacial audio calculations.
* Quagmire Troll is broken and teleports around while you're dodging abilities and hits you anyway, the dodge indicator doesn't show up half the time too.
* Just met a nice chap asking for a potion, I gave him one. Just met a nice chap asking for a potion. Clearly the devs forgot to do their work on this one since this guy doesn't change his dialogue after you give him the potion he wants and doesn't give you a reward.

Graphics:
* Game visuals are muddy/blurry as you get with a lot of modern AAA titles these days. Guys, sharp is not bad, it just stops me from getting a headache when playing your games.
* Uncomfortable visual effects that make it hard to see anything and will cause discomfort to players without epilepsy. No go if you do have epilepsy.
* Defaults to film grain and motion blur on. This is clearly to compensate for the visual blur and low frame rate respectively.

What's worse than a bad harry potter game? Knowing that having a bad harry potter game after all this time buries the chances of ever getting a good one.

In conclusion, it's an OK game but a bad implementation of the harry potter universe.
