I enjoy grinding to find specific mats only for a friend to join me and get it on their first try. 10/10 would KMS again.

Sometimes when my friends and I are getting along a little too well we hop onto Apex ranked to reset out friendship.
Edit 8/16/24: I don't have friends anymore. Aim assist is gone. Dual Mozambique?

The only real review ill ever write. After pouring over 4,000 hours into Destiny 2, I find myself feeling empty. Destiny 2 was once a shining example of what a live-service game could be: rich in lore, dynamic gameplay, and a community that made the grind worthwhile. Unfortunately, Bungie’s handling of the game over the years has been nothing short of a tragic decline, tarnishing what could have been a legacy for the ages.

Content Bloat and Retirements:
One of the most glaring issues is Bungie’s approach to content. The introduction of the Destiny Content Vault might have made sense on paper, but in practice, it feels like a betrayal to long-time players. Entire expansions, along with countless hours of progress and memories, have been shelved or outright removed. The promise of "making way for new content" rings hollow when that new content often feels shallow and repetitive.

The Grinding Treadmill:
The core loop of Destiny 2 has always been about the grind, but in the early days, the grind felt rewarding. The pursuit of God-roll weapons, the excitement of weekly resets, and the challenge of endgame activities like Raids and Nightfalls kept me coming back. However, over time, Bungie has turned this grind into a monotonous treadmill with diminishing returns. The seasonal content model is a prime example: each season introduces a limited-time activity that feels like a rehash of previous ones, accompanied by a season pass that incentives the same old rinse-and-repeat gameplay. The excitement of discovering new content has been replaced by a feeling of obligation, like ticking off items on a never-ending chore list.

The PvP Decline:
PvP content has seen little innovation, with Bungie focusing more on PvE content. The balance issues that plague the Crucible are frequently left unresolved. The hallmark of a good pvp is when every game is a close game. As of late more games are blow outs or getting blown out. It isn't fun.

Storytelling Inconsistencies:
Destiny 2’s lore is vast and intricate but Bungie’s storytelling has become increasingly erratic. Major plot points are often introduced and then left hanging, with no satisfying resolutions. Characters like Osiris, Zavala, and even the elusive Exo Stranger have had their arcs started and stopped with little regard for continuity. It’s as if Bungie is throwing ideas at the wall, hoping something sticks, but failing to weave a coherent narrative. Then as an after thought they'll do a 5 minute callback in a season years later. That makes no sense to new players and only a subtle nod to seasoned players.

Monetization and FOMO
The monetization strategies Bungie has implemented are nothing short of exploitative. The ever-expanding Eververse store, combined with the fear of missing out tactics employed in seasonal content, has turned Destiny 2 into a cash grab. It’s disheartening to see a game that once prioritized player experience now prioritize squeezing every last penny from its player base. Paying for seasonal stories only to have them vaulted later is an insult, especially when these seasonal stories are central to the game’s lore and experience.

After 4,000 hours, Destiny 2 has become a hollow shell of the game I once loved. The sense of adventure, community, and accomplishment has been replaced by a feeling of emptiness. Bungie’s mismanagement, the constant cycle of content removal, and the lack of meaningful progression have drained the joy out of it.
