This game is easily a must have for showing off how cool VR is. While some of the interactions seem a little weird the swimming feels organic and natural.

I would kill to have Subnautica's entire VR mode redone with the interaction system that was built for this game.

Preliminary review for now. Will change in the future:

Investing in this now because ITR is a series that I really love.

As I said in the ITR1 review, this is basically like if Stalker used a story that was more in line with the novel Roadside Picnic and was generally more bleak in tone, with non human enemies.

I haven't put any real time into this one yet and its still early days but immediately when I started I dug the vibe that was presented to me. And considering how ITR1 proceeded I have confidence in the dev team to make something really neat here.

It's more than a boomer shooter.

It's damn impressive that this is using the GZDoom and is almost a magic trick.

There are upgrade and metroid-like aspects that they also put into the design of this thing. And Resident Evil style mechanics too.

Ultimately it has a very well designed game that I would definitely recommend. For the price and the amount of content it is an extremely good bargain. So far this is the best shooter for 2024 that has come out.

For the Silent Hill lover in all of us - this game is one of the most well executed horror games I've played in a long time.

The story is vague and haunting, the game-play feels right at home with old school survival horror games.

It's a definite recommend for anyone that is missing psychological horror games from the PS1/2 era. It definitely will become a classic in my book.

So far the sound stopped working and in the mines one of the mining lasers stopped being able to be activated after I went back to it so right now I cannot finish it.

Edit: I restarted and it worked.

After the mines there is not a clear progression in the levels after and I end up just getting suck on invisible walls in places they should not be. There was a fence that did not open for me that meant I had to go around and it made me feel like it wasn't the actual intended path.

This game's shooting is good, but the enemy AI is kind of bad. They've gotten stuck or sometimes they just stand there doing nothing.

There was just a 2 gig patch so maybe some of these are fixed.

Edit edit: It did not and now every time I launch it changes my default audio to my headset instead of speakers.

I also am completely stuck in the dream sequence.

Since Alyx I have been struggling to find a game that made me feel...something. I think that, while more and more games are coming out for it, VR being a medium where things can be experimented and iterated upon has kind of been sacrificed in favor of trying to fit existing frameworks into it rather than building more interesting things that feel bespoke to VR.

This game's not wholly original. Sure, the movement system is similar to Gorilla Tag or Gorn. Sure, it's a roguelike. I have played only about an hour but this game really deserves a lot of people getting into it.

I do wish that there was more than the roguelike element. Maybe a sequel with a more story-driven level based world design or something. But this game is probably the most polished and interesting VR game I've picked up in a while.

The game's visual style is also refreshing. I have gotten tired of the emphasis on flat shaded and uninteresting worlds in VR and this game's visual style is immediately striking. It's music and presentation feels like something real.

I'll probably leave a more robust review as I continue to play it but I just wanted to leave this here. I really dig the vibe of this game and I hope it does well.

This is a great mod definitely recommended. The single portal puzzles I think were harder than a lot of the later stage puzzles just due to the limitations. Some of the puzzles felt way easier than others but it was a great overall experience.

Adding DRM to the game means a no go for me. Do not buy. Do not touch with 1000 foot pole

I haven't finished Lonn and in lieu of a longer review I will say this:

Lonn reminds me of playing a lot of games from 2007-2009 from other countries where the story is kind of weird and the shooting was janky. To me, it is the closest modern approximation of that era of gaming which I kind of found nostalgic when I played it.

I don't want to insult the devs or anything if the Devs are reading this please do not take this as an insult. I really enjoyed my time with this game despite some frustrations with the physics modeling and the general jankiness of the presentation.

I think the way that you grab things with your discount gravity gun powers feels too floaty and needs to be harder. If boneworks/lab didn't have issues with you grappling things I would call the grappling mechanics less good than that but I think that Lonn actually does pretty well with it.

I think the shooting is okay, but the way that you reload the gun feels a little weird to me.

Overall, I really liked my time with Lonn and I'm going to check it out more once I get my Bigscreen Beyond.
