In a word, fantastic. It was a long time coming, but a true sequel to the Ace Combat series is finally here, and on PC (with a well-optimized port!) no less. The gameplay has been retuned a bit compared to earlier games, but still retains that nice and arcadey feel. The closest comparison would be AC6, except without the terrible story. I've seen a lot of people complaining about the story in AC7, and while it is cheesy at times, I love it.

While people are (rightly) complaining about issues with this PC version (lack of HOTAS [update: extended support has been added!], good K+M, and ultrawide support [now fixed with fan patch!], plus Denuvo), these should absolutely not deter anyone from playing this fantastic game.

Positives:
+ great gameplay
+ great graphics
+ great music
+ well-optimized port

Negatives:
- no branching/alternate missions like in previous games
- lack of HOTAS support (you should play with a controller anyway)
- lack of proper M+K support (you should play with a controller anyway)
- no native ultrawide support (check out the WGSF forums for a fan patch)
- Denuvo
- 1 year delay on VR (I get that this is likely Sony's fault, but still)
- lock-on switching actually seems to be worse than in previous entries

Overall, Ace Combat 7, at least for me personally, ranks alongside Ace Combat 4, 5, and Zero as among one of the greatest games ever made.
