I remember buying the original Age of Empires from K-Mart way back in the day. The day happened to be in the summer of 1997. AOE is my favorite game franchise and I was excited but very worried about how an Age game from a studios other than Ensemble Studios would be. This does, I believe, an amazing job at capturing some magic of the Age series along with its own magic, e.g. the sound design just feels right every time you hear something. We'd all like more civs and biomes, but those will come in time.
