Huge disappointment for me compared to the first game. I went in thinking I would still enjoy it if it was just "more Subnautica", but that feeling was utterly crushed by the truly horrible surface section near the last stretch of the game.

The game's underwater map is really small compared to the first game, which really hurt the exploration aspect for me. What's the point of even making bases when everything is a short drive from where you spawn?

All the vehicles are bad compared to the ones in the first game (except the Prawn Suit which seems identical). The "Sea Truck" sounds like a good idea but in the end it's just really awkward to use and honestly just looks and feels lame compared to the Seamoth/Cyclops.

The environments are mostly fine, aside from the aforementioned surface section near the end of the game. It was just driving through a maze on a vehicle that pilots like it's stuck in molasses for an hour or more with constant storms that inhibit your vision, a massive boring biome with almost nothing interesting where 99% of it looks the same, and an annoying worm enemy who knocks you off your crappy molasses bike every 30 seconds. Just utterly indefensibly horrible (in my opinion). It truly ruined what would have otherwise been an okay game for me.

Just play the first one instead.

This game is great! Can't believe it's free. Controls AMAZINGLY. Must play if you love games like VVVVVV or Fez.
