Absolutely disgusting and harrowing, and sure to be analyzed piece-by-piece for years to come. Fantastic and undoubtedly worth the $10.

Short review: First four chapters are great, but it dissolves into a befuddling mess by the fifth. Even if you're a die-hard fan like me, I would suggest waiting to buy this until it's on sale or just watching a playthrough. Also, play it on console instead of PC if you can. It was terribly optimized for PC.

Yap fest review: To preface this, I've been a super-fan of the original Life is Strange since the release of the first chapter back in 2015. I was profoundly changed by the game, so much so that my first tattoo is dedicated to it. The trailer that seemed to come out of literally nowhere had me losing my marbles: I was beyond excited that Max Caulfield was back, but of course, I was nervous. Would Deck Nine be able to deliver a worthy predecessor to the original, or was the original lightning in a bottle? The original was a deeply heartfelt and profound exploration of girlhood, small-town oddities, identity, and acceptance.

I'm heartbroken to say that Deck Nine did not do Max, or the original game as a whole, anywhere close to justice. The first three (arguably even four) chapters are exceptionally good, blending a tight murder mystery with the supernatural. Max feels just like her old, awkwardly funny self but more mature, the characters are intriguing, the story is compelling, and it's visually stunning.

Unfortunately, in the fifth and final chapter, the game spirals into a poorly written, confusing mess. It is devoid of the heart that made the original so resonant, and genuinely makes me fear that this game was a cash grab all along. It seems the writers completely lost their footing towards the end, and either weren't sure what ideas they wanted to explore or ignore, or were simply pressured to write a ham-fisted ending that sets up a sequel (one that I DO NOT want).

Also, it's very obvious that it was designed for console. I own a relatively high-end PC and also used GeForce NOW, but the graphics still looked bizarrely blurry and I encountered a fair amount of bugs. Play it on console if you have the option.

Finished my first run of this remake a few days ago, and I'm still processing it. Without a doubt, this is my game of the year, possibly even my game of the decade so far. I don't know what the hell Bloober Team did after those messy combat trailers, but they pulled through with love and care and crafted a masterpiece and one of the greatest remakes I can think of. They did the original Silent Hill 2 justice and even exceeded it in some ways.

I am so glad they've opened up the gates for a new generation (and/or those who don't know how to emulate) to play one of the most influential horror games of all time, and that they did it so perfectly. If Bloober knows what's right for them, they'll remake other Silent Hill entries with the same love and care they did with this one. Hats off to them, and I cannot recommend this remake enough.

SO much fun to play with friends. Creates so many funny and memorable moments. There's definitely some QOL issues and a substantial amount of bugs but nothing I can't see being easily patched.

Genuinely one of the dumbest games I've ever played. 10/10.

This would be fun if they fixed the insufferable queue times and dead lobbies
