Rise of the Triad is up there with Duke as the best early-mid 90s FPS. Tom Hall is one of my biggest inspirations and this game's personality totally lines up with his craziness. I love this game, even if the level design is a bit simple.

I have more fun with ROTT than I do Doom. ROTT is just so crazy and wild.

The only gripe I had was multiplayer was a bit naff on launch, but I hear it's been fixed with the 1.1 update. Will have to give it a try.

I'm excited to see what else Nightdive can remaster, this one was (aside the initial multiplayer issues) perfect in every way, and one of the few games where I went achievement hunting. I normally don't give a hoot about achievements.

Also you nerfed the monks' health, so Episode 4 is actually fun to play now!!

Thank you Apogee, Nightdive and New Blood for bringing back one of the GOATs. This is the proper treatment ROTT needed.

Super Buff HD is crazy fun. Goomba stomping, body-surfing (literally), rail-skating, car-bouncing fun.

There needs to be a Super Buff HD 2 - Buff Harder.

Early Access Review
Supplice is a game that is, for me, as much about taking in the environment and bits of the surprisingly deep and engaging lore from the terminals, as much as it is about mowing down nasties. The environments are very beautiful, and strike me with their colorful yet not too bright palettes.

The combat is pretty standard, but the weapons, while obviously inspired by retro FPS mainstays, have some weird twist on them - one of them being a tri-barreled shotgun that's alt-fire is pretty damn solid for blowing game into gibs. However, I find the drill to be something I use more often than I thought I would. It's genuinely useful for conserving ammo while still being useful at a distance (with it's alt fire).

The maps are huge. I spend 20-40 minutes (or a long while in imperial units) on each map, but I personally don't mind. The environments are so beautiful I genuinely like to take it all in.

That might off put some people, but it didn't me.

Also just as a protip: wallhumping is discouraged and unnecessary. Anything that is usable or can be interacted with will be indicated as so when you're right near it - including secrets and non-secrets.

My favorite enemy is the rotating mass of tumors with a circular structure circling it. I dunno what it's name is but it messed with me the first time I saw it. Also the worms with the tri-slit mouths that lunge at you are cool.

Also the game ran pretty good. They took care to get the GZDoom engine to be as tight as possible.

I recommend it - but keep in mind this game isn't just a mindless run and gun. It's got quite a bit more depth than that, and that's okay. Take it in and enjoy Supplice.
