I often come back to this page when I get the urge to play a bit more and pick up additional DLC and get put off by the prices so I was pretty disappointed to see they had increased. Paradox have decided to reverse their decision and have been pretty transparant with their reasoning, which has impressed me. The CEO made a good point, that a good part of every update and comes for free, built into the main game and when I consider that the prices feel a bit fairer. The quality of life updates since this game came out 5 years ago have been expansive and quality.

CK2 is just a game I will never get tired of. There are so many different challenges you can take on. I have turned a county in Ireland into ruler of the United Kingdom fighting wars in Scandinavia and Spain at the same time. I have murdered wives, mothers, sons, kings and popes. I have led the horde over the steppe into Europe. I've created, destroyed and remade empires. It's simultaneoulsly frustrating and exhilarating at times, which is impressive for a game which mostly involves looking at a map the entire time.

Combat in this game can seem unfair at times but at other times it goes your way in hilarious ways so just let it happen. The game is designed to just generate all kinds of organic stories through the family tree and marriage system. You can inherit entire empires without spilling blood if you're really crafty. By the way, if you're new to the genre you will likely find it totally overwhelming like I did but just understand that a lot of stuff is just out of your control and your job is just to make the best out of a bad situation, it's quite roguelike in that way. Google is your friend sometimes, and searching specific phrases from the game will help you find the best way to reach your objective. You'll soon get into the swing of things.

With over 300 hours played, how can I not recommend this game. Honestly, I don't regret buying any of the DLC although I did buy it on sale. A lot of people here say the base game is not worth the base price and that for me is 100% false, you can easily get 100 hours from that alone, if you like the game. Happy conquering!
