While the main story is a little short, it doesn't overstay its welcome and leaves you wanting more. Definitely recommend playing in Spanish (Latinoamericano) for the amazing translation, especially if you're trying to learn Spanish!

Does it do anything new? No. Is the story any good? Nah, it's pretty cookie-cutter. Is the FOV /way/ to zoomed in? For my tastes yes, and there is no way to fix it. Am I going to probably finish the game anyway? Yes. The game play itself is pretty fun and challenging in its own way. It does a good job of making you feel like you're fighting against a full militarized group. Something about how everything handles and the different weapon upgrades makes the worms in my brain happy. I wouldn't buy this at full price - I think I got this in a Humble Bundle or something back in the day. But if you have it sitting in your library, it's the perfect "trash-tv" equivalent of a first person shooter.

American Truck Simulator is the perfect game to play while listening to a podcast, or hanging out on a Discord call. It's only as chaotic as you wan it to be, and the modding community have made some amazing contributions. If you want to play vanilla, the experience is still fantastic. The developer has gone out of their way to make the environments as realistic as possible - I legitimately had Deja-vu during certain drives, I would recommending getting the PNW pack to start because the environments are a little more interesting than the base map.

For a beta this is really solid, very minimal glitching, most of which was cosmetic. Hoping for the full release to go as smooth!

I believe I got this in a Humble Bundle or something, but honestly it's fun as hell. I don't know why I waited until this long to play it. Definitely going to get American Truck Simulator now.

Definitely worth waiting for the 1.5 patch. I've done a full playthrough, and am on my second one now. There are definitely bugs and glitches still, but I haven't encountered anything that breaks the game. If you've played something like Skyrim, this is very much on that same level. Never ruined my enjoyment

Can be more acrade-like for casual gaming, or really heavy simulation for those interested. I have a laptop with a 1660TI in it at can run at 120FPS without cooking my processor, those wanting to take advantage of high refresh rates look here. Definitely get it on sale though.

This game has a ton of potential. TL;DR, maybe see if the game goes on sale from $40 if you're on the fence, but I'm loving this so far and I'm so excited to see what can be done in updates.

I have my gripes with the game, though. For instance:
- Why can't I complete 90% of the challenges Goofy footed? My brain likes that stance more, don't make me change
- Why isn't there a higher camera angle than the default? I don't think this would be TOO hard, but I have beginner game development knowledge so maybe it is, I dunno. I just can't see half the things I want to trick off of most of the time, or much of anything in front of me.
- Character creation is a bit bland. Like I can't have long hair AND wear a hat? Little things like that *get* me maybe more than they should
- When you bail you get reset to your last session marker. The only reason I /dont/ like this, is if you're in a HUGE map like LA, you get sent to the beginning of the level if you don't set a marker anywhere. Let me turn that off when I don't want it, and on when I do. Just make like, right on the d-pad "clear marker" and that solves it. I know you can press "Y" and just fly somewhere, but it really kills the exploration part for me.

But honestly, this game has it's charm and despite those things, I love it. Here's why:
- The control scheme may turn off people coming from Skate 3 but honestly, it makes way more sense when you think about how skateboarding works (I mean it's still a game but this is much closer to life than anything else I've seen right now) and it's one of my favorite things about the game. I'm still getting used to it, but I have no doubt anyone coming from Skate 3 or having not played this kind of skating game before can learn these controls no problem.
- The soundtrack is surprisingly good! Good mix of alt, modern rock and rap. I didn't even expect there to be music (there wasn't in the beta/alpha/whatever build just before 1.0 which I also played) but that opening sequence after the light tutorial was such a nice touch and fits the mood perfectly. I was very surprised.
- The maps that are included so far are great, and the community maps make it even better. Seriously, that Chicago map with the fog? So sick. And a fan made that, and they just put it in 1.0! Awesome to see.

I'd like to see things like Multiplayer, AI skaters (that could be turned off and on) and the whole goofy-footed biased figured out, but honestly this is a solid launch. I think the price is a little high. I paid $20 while this was early access and I still think that's a good price. $40 is a lot. I'm also saying this from the perspective who has gifted two copies to friends already AT the $40 price. When more things get added like what I've mentioned above, it'll be worth it. But all the technical hiccups, like clipping into scenery and the camera pushing through walls, and weird bails that happen (like grinding at the top of a half pipe when you definitely didn't press anything at all) make this feel more like a late beta than an actual launch.
Now, It's GOOD. Like, I recommend this if you're interested and want to support the devs and really want a good successor to skateboarding games of yore, but if you're at all on the fence, wait until it goes on sale. I want this to succeed and I feel almost personally invested at this point? Like I can't wait to see what these guys can do to make this game amazing. And it's so close. But I can't give it a like, 5/5. I'd say like a 3.75/5. It's got quirks, but there's a lot to love here.
