You may be able to count the pixels...
But the combination of great music and compelling (if simple) storyline...
Make for some high definition FEELS!

If there's anything I have wrong with this game, it's how characters were wiped on the 1.0 release. However, this forced me to rediscover Starbound for the full game it became. With a storyline to explain why the player needs to get to the next planet and a colony system to make from every house a home, this game has plenty for the fighter and the builder. The literal lack of depth is a small price to pay for the figurative depth of themed furniture, villages, and tenants, allowing for much greater character than what you might see in other sandbox games (while remaining player-scale.) What's more, there are reasons the tiered bosses are fighting you, and you them: no one's just mad you spilled their drink. The new mechs and space stations only add oppurtunities for conflict and creativity, while establishing that this is 'Star'bound, and not 'planet/moon'bound. Starbound has came a long way since open beta, and with Chucklefish developing it, it will go much farther: I bet 1000 pixels on it.
