Accessible and easy to learn, while not lacking in depth. Has the Dragon Ball IP. Gorgeous graphics and beautiful sound. The biggest fighting game release on Steam yet. YES, I absolutely recommend this game!

That being said, there are some minor kinks that should be ironed out over time. PS4 fight sticks need some work-arounds as there is no native directinput support. The lobby/main hub system could do with some tweaking. And especially for the pc version, the ingame command lists need to show generic L/M/H/S or A/B/C/D inputs rather than icons of Xbox buttons.

Small annoyances that don't detract from the fun in any way, but I should mention them.

Why did I wait so long before trying this game?
Really recommended.

Atmospheric universe, very rewarding combat system, brutal but fair game mechanics.

KI is one of the greatest games but there are a lot of missed opportunities here.
The Windows Store version is free to try. Why is this option not included here?
I've owned KI since the very day it hit the Windows Store. Why should I have to pay again?
Why is there this weird half-schism of playerbases?

If you've never played KI before, you should definitely give it a try. If you have Windows 10 you can try the free version by going on the Windows Store. Personally I will not fork over money twice for an approximation of what could have been...
The F2P model that's present on both Xbox One and the Windows Store would have been a great way to blow new life into KI via Steam. Instead both new and veteran players are left with a bad taste in their mouth. New players because for some reason their platform is the only one which -needs- payment, and veterans because for some reason Steam is the only platform for which there is no cross-buy.

And my PS4 arcade stick still doesn't work on either version, despite Iron Galaxy claiming that the Store version supports DInput. I've had more success on Steam using Big Picture mode.

But dude, KI is great so you better try it one way or another.

This is honestly a very fun fighter. Combos seem accessible and easy, but don't sacrifice creativity or experimentation. There are tons of ways to combo and juggle. However the game does use NRS-style inputs (zero diagonals for special moves) with no option to switch over to stick-friendly input methods.

My DirectInput controller (PS4 arcade stick) was supported instantly. I can only guess the same holds true for XInput devices.

Right now, there's an arcade mode, offline versus, and training mode with a roster of nine characters. For the price of five bucks as it is right now on sale, it's already a good deal in my opinion. If this game does not get abandoned by the devs I can see a very fun fighter in this game. Give it a shot, it's fun and the game will need feedback and a playerbase to thrive in the future.

Great game. You get exactly what you see in the trailers, none of that is rendered.
The game is what old school fans of F-Zero and its ilk have always wanted, a few times over.

Don't expect to find an online match by just hopping on, but there's a small, passionate community over at the official Discord who are always down to race.

I expected something arcady that played akin to OutRun. This is not that kind of game.

The car is on rails and there are four lanes. Kind of like you do in AudioSurf, but the premise of the game itself is more like Super Hexagon: various difficulty levels and an emphasis on perfect runs. However Super Hexagon is still playable to an extent without entirely knowing the levels by heart. This game isn't, the level will sometimes just checkmate you into a situation that you could only have prevented if you knew it was going to show up beforehand.

And other than that, the downtime between runs in this game is just a bit too high, especially if you're used to Super Hexagon where it's instant and here you get to stare at a loss screen for 2 seconds. Doesn't seem much, but remember this game is 100% trial and error. So you'll stare at loss screen often.

Overall it's not a high price but it's not the kind of game you'd expect it to be, and there are better alternatives for the game it does turn out to be. What this game DOES get right though is visuals and audio. The overall aesthetic is something the devs really nailed down.

It works, it's complete, and it's optimized. It has arcade mode. I am ready to be left behind.

In all seriousness this game is great and deserving of a shot. Worst case scenario it's just not your cup of tea and you can get a refund. There's no losing scenario here.

Buy.

Decided to refund for one simple reason and that is the control scheme.
In most flight sims and shooters I've played such as BF4 and Elite: Dangerous, you control acceleration and yaw (and thrusters in the case of E:D) with the keyboard and you control roll and pitch with the mouse.

This is not the case in Everspace. You fully control the ship with the keyboard and the mouse guides the weapon reticle. To me, this feels very unnatural. If your experience with flight games is similar to mine, be warned. I'm sure this game is alright, but this aspect is enough to turn me away.

I personally love this game. It's essentially like an endless survival mode of an old Ace Combat game.

However, this game does not have mouse support. Not a problem for me personally, but I know it will be for many others.

Turn-based tactical RPG with a lot of room for roleplaying. You create your thegn from scratch and get to decide what he's like entirely; ranging from hulking brutish raider to a conniving stealing rogue to a wise diplomatic trader.

I have a few issues with this game. Borderless mode is not natively supported. The combat mechanics cannot be sped up like in most SRPGs (unit movement, combat animations, ... none can be sped up or skipped) which can definitely make the game feel slow. And it still crashes on me from time to time. Despite all this, I'm having a ton of fun in this game. It's probably the best viking game out there with at least a modicum of historical accuracy.
