This game is free, and I still somehow feel scammed.

The gameplay is ALMOST incredibly good. The grapple hook is an amazing mechanic which allows for a lot of creative moments, the physics for the most parts feel really good. It feels very 'Halo'. However, with the desync issues (meaning that what you see on your screen is not always the same as what the server 'sees', thus ruining any form of competitive and serious/ranked gameplay) and the other negatives I will talk about in this review, the game falls short.

The challenge system was absolute garbage at launch, and while it has somewhat improved, it is still not worth doing. Making players pick up garbage tier weapons in order to complete challenges instead of actually trying to work together with their team to win the match? Honestly, I am not sure what brain they were using when they thought of that one, but it for sure was not a human one. It feels like it was created to extend how much people play (duh), but in the most malicious way possible. The system also triggers FOMO (fear of missing out), so a lot of players will be trying to finish these challenges every week. This means that you will likely have quite a few players on your team not really playing to win.

Co-op campaign arrived very late after launch, and still in a poor state. Asking for AAA price for a campaign that is shorter, worse writing and worse state than the old Halo games just isn't worth it. Until they resolve the issues with co-op, it is still not worth picking up at half price, though it might be worth if you plan to play the campaign alone. I would definitely stay clear of purchasing the campaign otherwise.

The shop. Oh my god, the shop contains the only cool items in the game, but at a very high price. While you can unlock some cosmetics through challenges, they are often looking very basic compared to anything you can buy in the shop. So if your intention is to create a cool spartan that feels your own, then you will be very disappointed unless you open your wallet. The customisation feels worse when compared to halo 3 / reach.

You will notice a lot of "positive reviews" are recommending the game after like 5 hours, and to be fair, the game is fun for that amount of time. But if you are looking for a game to become your new 'main game', then this game is not that. Although, if you are just looking to try something new and kill a couple of hours, then there is really nothing to lose when it if free-to-play.

- Potential
- Fun gameplay
- Easy to drag friends along
- Siege
- Skill based combat
- Crafting
- Survival
- Torture kids

Sounds good right? Too bad the game doesn't work.

- Super laggy server
- Black people are superior because they are invisible at night
- Server reset often because developers are not good enough at optimizing
- Hackers

They game was pushed out of Early Access, although it is more or less unplayable.
If you want to waste your money, buy this game.

I have yet to see something you can't do in Garry's Mod.
