Excellent mix of story and gameplay, with a branching narrative and an engaging mystery. Highly recommended.

Great game with a slightly disappointing, but exciting cliffhanger ending. I absolutely do recommend this game, but I understand the anger with the microtransactions. Has SE not seen any of the anger towards microtransactions in AAA single player games? This really does show a gross lack of awareness. However, they are optional, so I will recommend the game due to the fact that the gameplay is absolutely fantastic. On par with, or perhaps better than Human Revolution. Biggest problems are the loose ends in the ending and the absolutely GROSS microtransactions.

In my eyes; the best game ever made. By no means is it perfect, but the level of craftsmanship this game shows is incredible. From the level design to the narrative. The influence this game has had on FPS, RPG and Stealth games of all kinds is ridiculous. Even if you are put off by the slow start and bad graphics; just give it a chance. Once you get into it; I guarantee you will appreciate it.

Absolutely sublime game. On the surface, it's a pretty challenging yet rewarding first-person (although third-person view is available) puzzle game. But beneath that there's a really engaging story that's delievered in an incredibly unique way, and incredibly immersive to the extent that you really put your own thoughts into the game itself and the story kind of becomes your experience. Just make sure you play through all the endings, or at least both the main ones, so you fully appreciate the narrative. Also; a major highlight of the game is the sheer amount of amazing easter eggs that can be found. Just look on Youtube if you don't want to find them yourself. I'd also recommend the Road to Gehenna DLC; a totally different story with more lighthearted themes yet still remains true to the universe established in the main game. The perfect game for a philosophy buff like me. Fantastic soundtrack too.

Having started my Civ experience with Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri back in the early 2000s, I can say that coming to this game after playing that shows a huge improvement in many features, but a loss in many others. One thing I seriously hope for in Beyond Earth is a return for the unit customization. Please.
