I heard of all sorts of drama about the development of this game, but bought it when it was on sale just to dip my toe in the water and see how bad it was. So glad I bought it now, as it's fantastic.

Visceral, fast-paced, and manages to preserve the 'sliding around' feel of the original DOOM series while still feeling contemporary.

I wasn't sure about the melee 'glory kills' at first but the pace is so frenetic they give you a second to breathe if nothing else. Now I'm chaining attacks on enemies with glory kills like a pro... well, maybe not quite like a pro, but well enough to satisfy myself!

Really can't recommend this highly enough if you like intense FPS action. I'm only five levels in and already feel like I've got my money's worth.

I'm sure the game is great, but I bought it on the basis of it having Oculus Rift support. There is no support for VR headsets in the menus, so to get yourself into the driving seat you have to fire up the game on a monitor, remember all the keystrokes to get you from the main menu to the race, then restart the game through the head mounted display and try to playback those keystrokes.

If you're looking for something to try out with a VR headset you might want to hold onto your £39.99 for now.
