Still fun and can still find people to play with. Great concept execution and art. Old and niche and nostalgic. Altogether holds up well. Fun gameplay

Pros
*Acknowledged, respected, OG, golden era esport.

*The people who like AoE2 really like AoE2. Dedicated little fanbase.

*Great concept execution. Real life, historic military units of different empires warring hold up really well.

*Fun gameplay with multiple different types of play modes.

*Ok online scene. Players at all hours, albeit more limited during off hours.

*Cool little pro scene with a little tournament pocket money.

*Great art direction. And also, the 2D pixel art works better for these RTS type games than 3D…AoE2 is fun to watch. The game is fun and pleasing to look at.

Cons
*Campaigns suck. Boring, tedious, cheap, difficult for no reason, bad design

*Can’t add friends in game??? Why? There’s no add friend feature. There’s no lobby??? There’s no way to socialize within the game. There’s clans, but there needs to be more.
