I really like this game. It is at first glance a simple repackaging of the Troy game, which it certainly is at some level. This is a really good iteration on that game if so. There is a lot of fun to be had with the 3 major cultures represented at launch, and each leader is still unique within those cultures.

Native unit recruitment, armor degradation, choosing a legacy, leveling up generals and equipping them for specific roles, a functioning economy and a very large map to conquer.. there isn't much here to complain about in the end, it's all good fun.

Imagine the Witcher and Lord of the Rings universes had a baby and turned it into a D&D style party based adventure game, and that's what this is. A bit dated at this point, but the story, characters, setting and aesthetic are all perfectly on point.

While the interface and visuals are somewhat dated and on modern hardware it seems to be glitchy and crashes not infrequently, I think putting up with it all is much more than worth it for the experience.

I really hope someday that they actually come back and remaster this title, it very much deserves and could use it.

At this point it's considered a classic among Fallout fans. This game has a more streamlined and fleshed out narrative main questline than Fallout 3's "find your Dad" objective, and alongside it has a very convincing world with small and large factions that are well developed.

This is the pinnacle of the "2nd generation" of Fallout games in many eyes, and understandably so.

(1st gen being the isometric games, 2nd gen being the move to 3d worlds, then 3rd gen the move to more action adventure style gameplay with FO4)

Civilization style 4x with X-COM style battles between units, RPG elements and a meta-progression for you to work on in between games... I will have a very hard time putting this game down.

This DLC is the most expensive so far but definitely fun. For the price you get new units (none of which are complete duds, they all are fun to use), a new lore of magic, a legendary hero with interesting unique skills and a bunch of unique campaign mechanics specific to the new Chaos Dwarf race. There are 3 lords instead of 4 from previous new race DLC however -- fewer start positions, but there isn't a case where one lord just feels tacked on, they all have a place and role they fill.

I can only hope that any future updates to existing or new races are as thorough as this is.

With the Immortal Empires combined map releasing this coming week this game is a no brainer for strategy fans and almost required for total war fans. Before this, the game was just "fine" -- they tried iterating on the narrative campaign they did for warhammer 2 and it was less fun and more tedious than I think they intended.

That said, the sheer size of the new combined campaign map and replayability of even the oldest factions that have existed since game 1 is mind boggling and will keep players entertained practically indefinitely. Empire (Men), Vampires, Dwarfs, Greenskins, Chaos Warriors, Beastmen, Wood Elves, Norscans, Lizardmen, High & Dark Elves, Skaven, Tomb Kings, Vampire Coast, Kislev, Cathay, Ogre Kingdoms, Nurgle, Slaneesh, Tzeentch and Khorne factions are all there waiting to be played with unique leaders for each faction with their own mechanics, victory conditions and start locations on the world map.

Keep in mind too that there will be a full lineup of DLC added to the game going forward for years to come -- even if you don't buy each one, they will continue to add more factions to the map to be explored and fight against.

I personally know that I will be dumping untold hours late into the night for many moons on this game alone.

The exploration really makes this the skyrim of Dark Souls games -- the minimal guidance, UI and map really sell the mystery of the world well also.

While the management is light, sometimes that's all you need. The campaign missions are surprisingly engaging, just have to go into the whole game with the expectation that it is not much more than what's on the cover -- a chance to make dinosaur parks.

This game feels like playing Mass Effect but with way more interesting loot and skill trees. The story is fine, gameplay is great.

Takes a while to get used to, but I'm genuinely sad they have discontinued it. I really like the mouse like joystick option for the right hand pad -- turns out a trackpad for your thumb is actually really great in many (not all) games.
