Best played with friends, or alone if you don't have friends.

If you go online, you'll likely find griefers and/or speed-runners if you choose to play through Half-Life, which is partially included in this game.

This game is great to play through at least once for the history behind this. After all, this was Valve's big breakthrough game, this was the one that helped set the stage for FPS games on PC along with System Shock 2.

The game itself is pretty great. The only complaint (if any) is that the gameplay hasn't aged too well, but it isn't completely unplayable, it just takes some getting used to. This is the case for a lot of the older games.

The game is short, but it's fun to go through at least once or twice. Definitely recommend.

I'm a big fan of the Dementium series on the Nintendo DS, so when I found out this port existed, I just had to have it.

Unfortunately, this port falls short of the original version in several key areas.

One of the main advertised features of the HD version is the upgraded cutscenes. However, these "HD" cutscenes feel jarring compared to the smoother transitions in the DS version. Instead of seamlessly blending into gameplay, the cutscenes feel like abrupt movie segments that pull you out of the experience. The gameplay, in contrast, doesn't live up to the visual expectations set by the cutscenes, making the overall experience feel disjointed.

The port’s gameplay suffers from several technical issues. The combat, in particular, feels less responsive. The shank’s three-hit combo doesn’t always register properly, and the flamethrower requires you to be uncomfortably close to enemies to be effective. The nail gun, which was previously a powerful weapon, is somehow weaker than the shank, which makes progression more frustrating than enjoyable.

Movement also feels slow, and the jump is not high enough to navigate certain obstacles effectively. Additionally, many of the enemies, especially the Chestmaws, are poorly implemented. Their movement is awkward, animations are out of sync, and they quickly get back up after being knocked down, seeming like they're skipping the recovery animation and going straight for the chasing or even attack animation. This results in frantic, frustrating encounters that break immersion.

The sound design in the PC port is another area of concern. While the Chestmaws' unsettling sounds are effective at first, their repetitive nature quickly becomes grating. This is compounded by the fact that the game’s soundtrack, which was more prominent in the DS version, is quieter in the PC port. Some tracks are even missing entirely, leading to long stretches of silence during gameplay. The music that does play is often the loudest track in the game, making sudden transitions into intense moments jarring.

I love this game, really, I do. But I can't recommend the Dementium II HD port to those wanting to experience the series. The issues with gameplay, sound design, and overall immersion make it a disappointing experience compared to the original DS version. If you're new to the series or looking to revisit it, you're much better off playing the game on its original hardware.

It's a beautiful story about a little robot trying to keep a space station alive, so he recruits you (the player) to help him with purging the viruses from his friends while he helps to keep the station running. Contact from earth hasn't happened much since the mission began and all of his friends have given up hope, all of them happy to be inside their simulated worlds 24/7 while the space station falls into shambles in the real world.

In the end run though, things aren't as they seem.

This game truly lives up to it's name of "The Desolate Hope", for a good while, I felt that hoping for anything was pointless.
But as I stretched my hands out and tried to see what I was capable of, I saw that there was hope, a very slim one, but there was hope. That little flame of hope carried me to the game's bittersweet ending.

The game does have a learning curve, but once you master it, the game is actually challenging, putting your quick-thinking and multitasking skills to the test with the battles it presents. You might need to look up a guide on how to properly play the game if you want to have an easier time playing it.

But, all in all, I highly recommend this game for the story alone.

Even after all these years, this game in particular is still fun to play.

Want to finally (Get with Emily/Get Revenge on Emily)? Now you can with this game! It offers much more content than the previous game, including the ability to talk to TWO girls, sometimes at the same time.

But, you are forced to choose between one or none when hard times fall on both of them, such is the reality of life.
And, above all, always remember to be yourself. Or at least be honest. That's how you get the best ending of this game.
Definitely the Definitive Edition of the original Emily is Away, I recommend it.

It's a cute little Windows XP style game and I absolutely adore it.

However, the story is really sad. There is no happy, not even for a moment as it shows you just how harsh reality can be.
It's an easy way to hurt your feelings without hurting your wallet.

Do not recommend unless you want to be sad for a while.

Look, you're better off buying the sequel which not only has this game within it (via a $10 DLC), but much more to offer. I'm literally only playing it now because I paid money for this game a literal week before they announced XV2. I even bought the DLC to make myself feel better about the purchase and it still hasn't paid off.
I'd refund this if I could, not because it's bad, but because there's no point in having it when the second game exists and is overall an improvement on this one in nearly every way.

The Dragon Balls aren't real, but my regret is.

If you're going to get this, get some of the DLC as well. I've been at it for over 100 hours and I'm hardly halfway done with this game. There's just so much to do and it's incredible how good this game is.
