When I was 7, my late uncle Dimytro used to make me shovel pig crap all day on his farm. Even then, I had more fun than playing this game.

Definitely scratches that Battlefield itch. Very pleasant experience so far.

So, the last NBA 2K game I played was 2K13. I've been itching to return for a few years now, but the negative reviews and the fact that 2K was selling old-gen version for PC kept me away. But with 2K25, I finally decided to jump back in, and it's been awesome.
I only play offline singleplayer MyNBA mode, so keep that in mind.

Good:

• Graphics are great and performance is good. Experienced a crash once in 40 hours.
  
• Customization is crazy. Sliders for everything, from gameplay to in-depth settings and behaviour of CPU in terms of players' value, player development or coach preferences.
  
• MyNBA mode is rich with features, offering a deep franchise experience with lots of stats and coaching settings. It's very impressive and way better than it was the last time I played.

Bad:

• Presentation could be better (replays, real TV overlays).
  
• A couple of times, the game got stuck at "syncing with 2K servers" after a match, forcing me to quit and lose all progress. It's frustrating when this happens.
  
• I expect a lot of commentary to disappear starting from year 2 because a lot of phrases are recorded regarding the 2023-2024 season. So after you advance to year 2 all those comments will become irrelevant and probably disappear from the broadcast.

Didn't know much about the game before playing and don't know who Kojima is, so I went into this game more or less blind.

I actually really liked it, it's certainly one of the most unique games I've ever played. The plot is incredibly confusing, and I probably understood only about 70% of it.

The soundtrack is definitely in my top 3 of all time, the moment in Chapter 3 when you see your destination with SILENT POETS playing gave me chills.

The game is basically just a series of fetch quests and grinding, which doesn't sound attractive, however just the feeling of navigating rough terrain through all the obstacles is good enough to make you keep playing. Extra points for awesome DualSense features implementation on PC, the haptics and adaptive triggers definitely contributed to a pleasant experience navigating the terrain.

That being said, I can't imagine playing this game offline without all the other players' built structures and material contributions, they definitely made the game much easier and more pleasant, if I had to do everything by myself I would have dropped the game at chapter 5. Even with online features I finished the game with just 2 connections at 5 stars and just 8-9 highway sections built.

Some other cons:

- Enemy AI is absolute garbage (I played on normal difficulty).
- Boss fights are annoying and extremely repetitive.
- Way too many cutscenes and screw developers for putting 2 unskippable credit rolls at the end. You have to sit through what felt like 5 hours of cutscenes and credits in the end, it was torture.

Overall, I rate this 8/10.

Such a fantastic game with lots of choices that matter, but smaller stories are better than the overall story arc.

Wish you could skip cutscenes and dialogues for new game+ though.

I liked the story and the graphics, but not much else.

This is the first open-world game where I didn't bother with any side quests or activities because I wanted to finish it as quickly as possible. For the same reason, I played on the easiest difficulty, as there are too many enemies and fighting them is neither fun nor satisfying. Poor sound design and terrible aim assist made it a pain to play with a controller.

The game also didn't respect my high intellect (I have 66 IQ points). Want to hide? You can only hide in specific patches of tall grass. Want to climb something? You can only climb objects marked with paint or bright yellow handles. Thanks a bunch.

20 minutes of yawn

Awesome chill puzzle game, one of the best I've played.
