Ville Kallio did it again.

Even though Psycho Patrol R feels more structured and tame than Cruelty Squad at a first glance, everything else feels just as psychotic and mad. The on-foot combat is meaty and scrappy, the writing drips with wit, and the expanded scope as an semi-open-world RPG fits the style of the world very well.

The game absolutely shines in its ability to surprise you at every corner. Creepy secrets, unhinged NPCs and weird interactions could be absolutely anywhere and keep you on your toes.

I have to admit that I have mixed feelings about the mech combat, but it might be a case of me being bad. As of right now, the only way for me to have a fighting chance is by abusing range and line of sights, and I can't say for sure that this is the way it's intended to feel. I will update my review is this changes over time.

It sounds very unlikely, but Balatro winning GOTY would be 100 % deserved.

This is very clearly a love project, and the ambiance is very well done. I'll be happy to revisit every time Dillon posts an update.

Yep! New Blood done did it again!

I'm not a big im-sim stan, but everything in Fallen Aces is so compelling: the art style, the level design, the writing, the music... It just all comes together incredibly nicely. Add the usual New Blood polish on top of it, and you should have a good idea of the overall quality of this game.

Really excited to see what the next episodes have in store for us!

If you want more Hollow Knight, and don't mind the indie jank, then Aeterna Noctis has big "hidden gem" energy.

Yep! This is Trackmania. It's a shame that it has to be run through the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Ubisoft launcher, but hey, more visibility for this gem is all I can ask for!

This is a great sequel to The Talos Principle. Croteam absolutely understand how to tell a story with gameplay. The themes are obviously different from the first game, but the characters, writing and pacing managed to make me involved very fast.

The puzzles are all on par, even though Croteam favored more mechanics over deeper exploration of the interactions between elements. I understand that they keep their best brain teasers for DLC, but still, I would have liked more difficulty overall.

Short and sweet! The 30 puzzles are more than enough to display the possibilities of such a twist on the Sokoban genre.

And the challenge added by the achievements is a nice touch! Finding alternative solutions to puzzles and showcasing the speedrun mode, very fun!

Rocksmith is pretty cool. I'm a bass player, and you don't find bass tabs everywhere like you do guitar tabs.

I also gave a shot at learning guitar with it, but I'm useless with more than 4 strings, it seems like.

Underwhelming at best.
