IRL tracer rounds are bullets that have phosphorus on them. As it travels through the air it glows, allowing the shooter to see where his bullets are going. Usually, they are every 3rd bullet in a magazine. In CS GO the same applies. You see a flash of light that represents the 'bullet'. This allows you to see where people are shooting through smoke.

I saw your CS GO thread. In CS GO, when you fire your gun, you are basically firing a lazer beam. It goes in a straight line and hits the target instintaniously. However, the angle at which it comes out of your gun is variable. I would suggest looking at TheWarOwl and 3klicksphilip youtube channels. They have many tutorials and guides.
